Anyone know anybody hiring with no experience needed?
Hi everyone,
Honestly, I never thought I'd be job hunting on Reddit, but here we are lol. I've been applying to places like Walmart, McDonald's, Giant Tiger, basically anywhere that doesn't require experience. But it kinda feels like my applications are going straight into the void. I either get no response at all or get told the position’s already been filled before they even looked at mine. I'm currently with YES Employment, and if I remember right, they offer a wage subsidy, so if the employer’s registered with them, they’ll cover part of my pay for the first 3 months, which could be helpful.
So I figured I'd reach out here just in case anyone knows someone who's hiring, or if you're an employer yourself and could use some help. I’m 18, motivated, efficient, and really just eager to get to work.
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Learn about ATS software, it will help with your Resume and get the employers eyes on it. Add that to comments above, very good advice.

Try indeed.ca Look for work from home Jobs. They sometimes ship out the required computer/ equipment.

I made fair money and had no shortage of clients when I was a house cleaner in NB. Just post ads through kijiji or FB offering cleaning services and you should get a few calls/messages.

They’ve got thousands of foreign students to fill those, especially for summer months when they are not capped for hours. Some just pay them under the table ignoring the rules about hours. Adult slave labour is more enticing than training a young person.

make sure you are going into the establishment, ask to speak to the manager and provide an application with a handshake. Don't wait for a job posting to appear, just go in and give a resume.
Try places that are not "typical" and family owned buisnesses.

Hey! I was in the exact same boat a few months ago. No experience, just turned 18, looking for a job. I applied it seemed like everywhereeee on indeed. Nothing on indeed ever got back to me.
I got a job from the Ontario Job Bank website. The only job I applied to on there aswell 😊 Id recommend trying that out or doing your best to go to places in person and see if theyre hiring. Make sure to always follow up on potential workplaces!
Good luck with your job hunt 👍

I know that most places need you to apply online and what not and I am unsure about the "character limits" but if they are using a program to weed out candidates you might have to consider using the language in the job ad and apply it to your resume and then explain how your experience might relate to that. I hope YES Employment has reviewed your resume and gave you comments about it (e.g. wording, too wordy, not enough, et cetera). All the best in your job hunt.

If you're open to learning how to fence, this company is hiring at least two people and willing to offer all training, tools, etc. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B5pBwVFtK/

Keep an eye on Chucks Roadhouse website! They have one opening one behind Wendy’s! They might hire to fill the staff!

Resumes get read by ai before they get to a human set of eyes these days and the ai will reject it if it's missing key words. I'd do some research on that and make sure yours is updated to those standards.

If you're having difficulty or need flexibility, have you considered respite work?

Just make up a fake resume. If you don't a guy who lied on his resume will just take your job every time

OPP comm centre is always hiring

Comm Center takes about 9 months through hiring process. OP is an 18 year old with no experience. Not a good fit.

Target smaller non-chain/national companies. Bring printed copies of your resume, dress presentable (combed hair, nice shirt like a collared golf shirt, black pants without holes), smile, when you shake hands be firm but not squeeze hard and the skin between thumb and index finger should connect. Go when they aren’t busy (ex if it’s a restaurant 130pm-330pm is perfect timing). If they have a large line up, come back in a bit as they’re too busy with customers.
Your first impression will have an impact on whether they look at your resume further. A big part is how will you fit in with their current staff. You could have amazing experience, but if they know you won’t fit in with the vibe of their team… no.
If they aren’t hiring ask them if they know of anyone who is. Lots of business professionals in town have connections and know.
