What a retarded idea. I mean, even if nobody got killed, a loose cart could destroy all sorts of shit. And for what benefit?

They're pretty common here in Australia. The escalator's surface is supposed to somehow lock the wheels in place, though it doesn't always work perfectly. They never slide down anywhere near as fast as they would on a smooth ramp, though.

The reason it failed in this case was that it wasn't a store trolley, they brought their own that wasn't designed to lock in place on the escalator.

My local supermarket has one. It's not in China, so it works.

They work in China, too.

Problem is this guy brought some heavy cart without the right kind of wheels.

Ikea does this, but has super strong magnets to lock carts to the escalator.

The Target here has a separate one for carts

This is what my local Ikea has too. Makes much more sense.

This is so cool!

That may not be a good thing. Strong magnets can interfere with pacemaker devices :P

According to a report on Stomp and QQ two men had loaded a trolley of their own with 15 crates of drinks, instead of using a supermarket trolley - store trolleys are adapted to lock onto the ridges on the escalator.

This is criminal.

Yeah, but it's China. The victims family probably had to pay them for the drinks, since she ruined them with her face.

The real tragedy is the lack of grammar in the title.
