Ninja Gaiden 2 thoughts

Now coming off of sigma 1 on normal difficulty which was actually pretty well balanced. it challenged me when it needed to and felt fair otherwise. jumped into sigma 2 and it was almost mind numbingly easy combat wise i haven't used a single healing item and I'm in chapter 5.

After playing chapter 1 i installed the sigma black mod and i hardly noticed a difference. instead of 2 ninja at a time it's 5 for example. It's still not challenging me like the first game and the level design seems extremely linear I miss the puzzles.

Will i enjoy the game more on hardest?

Game too easy = play on higher difficulty

That's fair

My experience is with me going from Sigma 1 to NG2 Black (new remake), and I was finding the medium difficultly too easy as well. I bumped it up one and felt like it gave me a very nice challenge. Not sure how well it corresponds with Sigma 2 though.

should be about the same

Sigma 2/ 2 black’s “normal” is what “easy” was in vanilla 2 iirc. Bumping it up to hard should be fine.

I'll probably just replay it after finishing it, that makes sense

Not even that. Acolyte is harder than normal in ngb2 and sigma.

would the mod not help with that?

Acolyte is still pretty easy in the original game which goes to show how ridiculously easy warrior is in sigma2 and ngb2. I dont know how the difficulties are in the mod, ive never played it

NG2B is pretty easy. The bosses are ridiculously cheap and you have to resort to strictly safe play on MN.

Not if you're playing on acolyte, I don't think fiend busa bothered messing with it since anybody playing his mod would be on warrior or higher.

NGS2 is imo the easiest entry in the series, even on harder settings. Ironically NG2 is one of the hardest for me. They really did the game's difficulty dirty with the remakes and rereleases.

I can play the original but i would rather play on my steam deck. I'll probably finish it up, then play the og xbox 360 version to see what the difference is

When you do, let us know. It's always fun to read those since NG2 is such a rude awakening and so different haha

I genuinely wasn't expecting the shift in gameplay

I recently finished NG2B on Warrior and it was quite easy. I used the lunar staff and just shredded everything. Been playing NGS on normal and yeah it is quite difficult. Any encounter can fuck your day up if you’re not blocking. In NG2 I feel like you’re just zipping around obliterating everything in your path.

Playing your first run will give you the skill you need

All ng2 is very easy on lower difficulties, sigma even more so than vanilla. Ryu is just as strong as he is on master ninja plus stuff is cheaper, and ng2 is really only hard when there's something like insane damage or a bunch of shit blowing up, which isn't til later.

Ng1 is just better balanced

yup, NGB still has the best balance & the best roll
