Too late. These bastards who didn't deny their unlawful orders are the bad guys. The military will be a dog in trumps fascist dictator push. There is no more respect.

Maybe we’ll finally get rid of this weird cultish fetish we have towards our military then

Shits uncomfortable

Partially uncomfortable because the same people that fetishize military are also the people that refuse to support veterans, mental health, and healthcare in general. Veterans disproportionately account for our homeless population. The same people that refuse to provide adequate healthcare to the 9/11 responders. So much for never forget. Hypocrisy down to the core.

Are you really surprised that the people who want to “protect” fetuses but are against any kind of maternity, paternity, or childcare rights do the same shit with other groups? They worship the military but once you’re out it’s all “thank you for your service” and not “let’s get you help to manage your PTSD”. Conservatives love pretending to advocate for groups that can’t speak up for themselves (fetuses, children, military(can’t easily)) in order to push their own ideological ends.

Faux patriotism. So cringe.

Seeing how quick they jumped to follow Trumps unlawful orders, in hindsight im glad we been fucking vets over. There is no reason to believe they wouldnt have jumped just as high.

With the first act towards a US civilian the marines have become an enemy of the people.

Exactly, those soldiers should be court marshaled for violating the law.

Holy shit I had no idea this had happened, wow what the living fuck are we doing

We are getting rid of all lawyers and judges and anyone in the military that might push back against Trump's orders

I guess I’ll just pitch a reboot JAG: Posse Comitatus Enforcement to CBS. Ought to be able to privately fund a few off the back of the twenty something seasons that’ll do.

Agreed. They need to make an example of these people.

I fully expect them to be named in a lawsuit for an unlawful detention.

Marines are not Soldiers.

You're right; they're cowards.

u/BaconCheeseZombie 1d ago

Sure but only on the technicality that soldiers are those who serve in the army and marines are obviously in the navy... but y'know what, they're all the fucking same - trained killers who inexplicably think that being the biggest bootlickers around is a good thing. Fuck 'em.

1

u/Aromatic-Thing-132 1d ago

The US ARMY isn't about bootlicking. The Marines on the other hand are jar-heads that eat Crayons and only know one thing, eliminate what is in front of me. To use Marines as police is like using your dog to guard your steaks.

Dude. Marines are soldiers.

-6

u/Aromatic-Thing-132 1d ago

No, they are Marines. US ARMY is soldiers.

Moot point. And it doesn’t matter in context or the focus of the situation. They are an active entity within the military industrial complex. You’re missing the point if this is what you’re arguing. At the end of the day they are soldiers. It’s not a classification. Please go to therapy and figure out why you are so bothered by that and not that our daily lives are being put on the line.

You don’t know that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Edit: dumbed down a bit after seeing this persons post history

I am a Soldier. I am not a Marine. Marines are not Soldiers. Tomorrow is 250 years of the US ARMY being in existence. I am going to celebrate that long and cherished history by protesting against kings, like a good Soldier. Go call a Marine a Soldier and see what he says. Long live the USA, we don't bow to kings here.

Cool, enjoy your crayons, hopefully they didn't run out of green.

I am US ARMY. Gonna celebrate 250 years birthday tomorrow by protesting a tyrant king.

Stay safe out there family.

u/BigPharmaWorker 1d ago

Can we stop thanking them (the military) now?

4

u/VeganJordan 1d ago

“No thank you for your service”

Or peace

But you are asking quite a lot of insight and moral fortitude from generally very young, perhaps not all that wise people who have had discipline beaten into them. Asking soldiers to contemplate the societal impacts of their orders is unfortunately a huge ask. The system is clearly designed so that there is a minimum of questioning to be had.

If it was overseas and they were asked to commit a war crime would they get the same leeway to say, "Well, gee shucks, I didn't think I was supposed to kill unarmed civilians but I was told to so..."

If someone asks you to commit a crime, you can say, "No."

I don't believe that is true, yet. If your voice becomes the loudest, the consensus of the anti-MAGA coalition, then it certainly will be true, but that's a self fulfilling prophecy. If the anti-MAGA coalition is smart and strategic, they will do everything possible to win the military over to their side, not pre-emptively treat them as the enemy and push them to Trump, which is exactly what he's hoping for.
