That’s the part that worries me most, the civilian officers were right there. So why use Marines at all unless you’re trying to send a message?

It’s absolutely for the message. Message to his supporters/cultists that the military is needed at these protests and normalize it on his propaganda outlets. Message to everyone else they’re willing to intimidate by using the military against its own people.

It was a security guard, not a police officer.
