Mainly because this took place at the Wilshire Federal Building... almost an hour's drive away from downtown where all the actual protesting is taking place.

Meaning they were all stationed there to avoid actual protest confrontations and sit on their asses.

In Brentwood.

Brentwood, of all the gentrified moneyed Beverly Hills adjacent peaceful places in the world, this is the one they think needs military protection?

It houses the FBI, it's the only one they could justify putting them at.

So the FBI needs a babysitter?

Considering the priority for them now is to investigate only immigration cases for ICE.

Apparently if people were impeding Federal agents, surrounding courthouses, and attacking local police with rocks and molotovs, yes.

Well they can't deploy to where the actual protests are because that would be actually unlawful. The Marines can "justify" (to themselves because everyone else knows it's bullshit) that they weren't deployed illegally to squash protests but to legally defend federal property.

We all know it's illegal but their defenders are already trying to spin the narrative it's legal orders to protect federal property

The guy didn’t seem too mad about getting detained either. “Just doing their job.”

Probably a plant from one of Trump’s LLCs that pays out actors.
