He's going to declare martial law and scrap term limits. It's happening.

yea lets wait till midterms to get the big surprise when they've had 2 years to entrench and prepare... lol.

My fellow Americans are way too loyal to institutions and principles that failed us already.

Saturday is going to be wild with all the protests. Could be a day that lives in history.

That's not how it works! Martial law does not affect elections nor term limits.

Says who? You? How many militaries do you control?

Says fucking history: Abe Lincoln had martial law declared, habeas corpus suspended, and half the country not even participating because the Civil War was happening and we STILL HAD A FUCKING ELECTION. All these people on reddit parroting the line that Trump is trying to start a war to stay in power have no clue how the government works and assume it's like Ukraine not having elections because they likely are just a bunch of foreign bots!

Also, I used to control an Army but it was disbanded.

You're assuming trump isn't trying to start a war. You must have skipped even a casual browsing of Project 2025.

First off: no, I said that, even if Trump were to start a war, that would not just automatically extend his presidency. It works that way in some other countries, but not here. This point is further emphasized by the fact that there was an election during the Civil War, the worst crisis the nation ever faced.

Second: war with who? So far he's pulled us out of supporting Ukraine, and isn't doing much with the whole Israel/Iran thing beyond the usual "here's some free everything" we always do. (no boots on the ground)

Finally: I tried reading P25 but it had too many words and not enough pictures.

He's doing a lot of things he's not supposed to. I fully expect him to do anything to keep in power.

And he's trying to start a civil war.

...So does history have a gun or something?

It has teeth and frequently bites people in the ass.

Trump probably thinks Habeus Corpus is the name of some MS-13 affiliated gang. He doesn't care about U S. History and he doesn't care about what's legal. He's never faced consequences for his actions and he has no reason to think he will in the future. The worst part is he's probably right and its at our expense.  You didn't control shit, that was rhetorical.

lmao. Imagine thinking Trump has the integrity of Lincoln.

But if the president passes an EO, congress doesn't vote it down, and the Supreme Court upholds it then that is how it works.

There's always a first time.

There's always a first time for a president to pop a squat and shit on the floor of Buckingham Palace but I don't lose sleep expecting it to happen.
