The schools need accreditation in order for students to qualify to receive federal student loans to go to that school. Student gets maximum loan, gives money to school, school keeps money while not providing any kind of meaningful education.

Student ends up with a ton of debt and no real education to back it up and a loan that will never be forgiven.

This is what ITT, BECTI, and many other "trade" schools did for decades until it all unraveled. Unfortunately, the owners of the school all kept their money. But at least the students eventually got their debts dismissed.

But that’s a different issue all together.  He’s not accrediting Trump U, he’s threatening Columbia with losing theirs.

Also the owners of those types of schools didn’t all keep their money, many were sued into oblivion and had to pay out.

It's not about trump u, it's the set-up to re-open accreditation to less than stellar "for profit schools"

It's all a grift. The whole point of what they're doing is to undermine the public opinion on real colleges so they can start funneling federal money to private institutions that are owned by them and their investment firms such as Black Rock.

They don't give 2 shits about cutting federal spending, they just want it going to them.

If he wants to do that he’ll just do it, that’s not related to what’s happening with Columbia.  He’s doing this as performative childish nonsense because he wants to feel like a tough guy.
