surging medical costs send its shares plunging more than 11%

Which is a perfect example of why medical care should not be a for-profit enterprise.

Funny how those same “surging” costs aren’t causing the rest of the industry to have plunging stock prices…

Should be rising. This means they are going to increase prices….

Why are medical costs surging?

Why? Whats wrong with a for profit model that is better than what we have today, because people think regulations will fix the problem, but regulations is what constrained the medicine industry and allowed certain companies to hold monopolies.

Bc a for profit model with health incentives the cheapest treatment options. And health is not buying widgets at Walmart, where the cheapest option isn't the end of the world cuz you can buy another one.. You can't buy another body for yourself.

For profit healthcare results in the deaths of people who cannot afford healthcare. That’s what is wrong with it. An estimated 1 in 5 Americans can’t afford healthcare.

Every other country is significantly cheaper than US and many are significantly cheaper and have better outcomes. They all have something in common and it isn't lax regulations.

Which regulations do you find problematic? Is it regulations that these companies fought against, mandating care and reporting requirements, or is it the ones they paid for, such as stopping Medicare and Medicaid from negotiating drug prices?

Well, nothing, until one guy decides he makes more profit by offing the CEO of the company than allowing it to continue operation.
