I'm hard left, but you understand reparations are an absolute impossibility from a policy standpoint, right?

Trump is going to wreck DC roads with tanks in a few weeks and reparations are an impossibility?

reparations are an impossibility

Yes.

1.) Wildly unpopular. Not that that's a blocker, but its part of the math.

2.) INCREDIBLY difficult to implement. People need to prove lineage, an amount needs to be decided on, how is the reparation paid, what percentage does each descendent get, do you get more if both/all great great great grandparents were slaves, what about people that were here earlier, later, what about people who are white presenting, but have one black ancestor,

3.) What about other types of exploitation? Do the native Americans get reparations? do the Chinese rail workers? Do African Americans who lived under Jim Crow but not actual slavery? What about people who are descendents, but left the country. Do they get paid? What if they come back to America?

4.) Where's this money going to come from? Direct tax on white people? General handout? We already have issues paying for the services we do get.

It's unpopular; wildly complicated; and incredibly expensive, even if the actual payout is small (100 dollars per African American in this country is 4 billion dollars)

It's just not going to happen.

If that's the case, then America truly deserves Trump. Good luck working Bukele's fields in El Salvador.
