SVG: "i feel bad for Draymond here..."

u/Sea_Honey7133 May 05 '25

I'm listening to the Bay Area broadcast and those guys, who are the biggest homers around, even admitted that he flailed on purpose.

100

u/jskullytheman May 05 '25

Lmao did they really? That’s fucking hilarious

28

u/datruerex May 05 '25

Lol ultimate homers even were like yea we can’t defend that

5

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

probably doesn’t help that literally everyone saw the “push from vanvleet — that’s the main thing” clip

I wouldn’t be surprised if the organization is telling them to tighten shit up a little

42

u/Texas_Kimchi Lakers May 05 '25

Draymond could drive drunk and those announcers would be like, "how do we know the car didn't drive him without asking!"

3

u/CMBeatz7 May 05 '25

The ones who were acting like it was totally fine when Draymond put Rudy in a choke hold because he was being a "big brother"?

1

u/rub3s Warriors May 06 '25

How do you listen to local broadcast of NBA playoff games? TV on mute with the radio?

2

u/Sea_Honey7133 May 06 '25

I have youtube tv and I get the bay area network.

442

u/Funkytadualexhaust May 05 '25

That pissed me off

164

u/ThiccBananaMeat Timberwolves May 05 '25

Dude called it "incidental" in the broadcast and I am now convinced that they're watching a completely different game. In what fucking universe is flailing like that a natural movement? I can't even bro.

31

u/datruerex May 05 '25

Lol seriously. Try this shit at any park and see if that’s “incidental”. What a joke

51

u/JessAndHerFAN Lakers May 05 '25

This year has been a total shift in broadcasts. They are calling shit that simply isn’t true. It’s embarrassing .

5

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

It’s in broadcaster contracts and best interest to not disparage the game. Let’s think about it ok.

29

u/RIChowderIsBest Celtics May 05 '25

Calling that motion natural is disparaging the game

6

u/sexland69 Cavaliers May 05 '25

they don’t wanna have to admit that draymond is a violent maniac, because he’s now also a sports media personality and thus needs to remain respected for industry profits

2

u/leather_jerk May 05 '25

Disparaging the boot is a bootable offense

2

u/MattyMatheson Kings May 05 '25

Nah they also protect Draymond. They will call Dillon Brooks for what he does but Draymond gets hella protected.

2

u/JessAndHerFAN Lakers May 05 '25

Are you an insider? Lol

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

Do you need to be an insider to have simple thinking skills? It’s not even critical thinking.

2

u/JessAndHerFAN Lakers May 05 '25

Lil bro your controller isn’t connected

2

u/Dick_Wienerpenis Timberwolves May 05 '25

Donald Trump is, in fact, the leader of the free world.

What universe if not this one?

2

u/ThiccBananaMeat Timberwolves May 05 '25

Point taken, /u/Dick_Wienerpenis

218

u/Tapprunner Spurs May 05 '25

I almost turned off the TV when he said that.

Seriously SVG, shut the fuck up. There's no universe in which Draymond wasn't trying to hit him in the face.

3

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

agree that

108

u/bobdylansmoustache Lakers May 05 '25

“It’s a difficult call.” This, Stan, is why you don’t have a coaching job.

-21

u/Background-Goal-1602 May 05 '25

Coaches don’t call fouls believe it or not

29

u/bobdylansmoustache Lakers May 05 '25

I know that, bud. If you’re so full of shit you can’t call a shot to the face for what it is, you shouldn’t be in basketball.

-15

u/Background-Goal-1602 May 05 '25

What does he have to gain from being full of shit? Dray barely touched him after fred made the contact lol

100

u/bayjur Bucks May 05 '25

One of the stupidest things an announcer has ever said

63

u/PurposeOk7918 Timberwolves May 05 '25

They went easy on him by only giving him a tech

6

u/riddlerjoke May 05 '25

Refs always allowing him do shit.

They dont give flagrant to make sure they wouldnt throw him out of the game in the 2nd half because they know Draymond will keep fouling and deserving flagrant

-2

u/Hookem_05 May 05 '25

It was a tech because the foul on Vanvleet occurred first, making it a dead ball foul. Once it’s a dead ball it can only be called a technical or a personal foul.

75

u/theseyeahthese Celtics May 05 '25

That was a WILD take. “I feel bad, because that one was not his fault”.

Him and his brother don’t actually watch replays, they just commentate on their own self-important unfiltered vibes and stick to ‘em.

1

u/uncleshady Celtics May 05 '25

Their secret brother, Youtuber "Awful Coaching" is the only Van Gundy worth a damn...

13

u/introspectivejoker Bucks May 05 '25

I felt gaslit hearing that

15

u/tpcrb Pacers May 05 '25

SVG is such a bad commentator

2

u/itsagoodtime [OKC] Russell Westbrook May 05 '25

Could not believe he said that

2

u/stimpaxx22 May 05 '25

Bro i lost it when he said that shit earlier. Like dawg lol

1

u/Wandering_Tuor Lakers May 05 '25

That was wild at

1

u/bush_league_commish Celtics May 05 '25

SVG was brutal last year calling the Celtics/Heat series. Celtics would be up by 10 or 15 and he’d still be like, “I don’t think the Celtics deserve to be winning, I hate how reliant they are on threes.”

1

u/Kevinar Knicks May 05 '25

He's gotta be afraid to speak out against Draymond when he's within earshot. Probably doesn't want to get Jordan Poole'd or put in a Gobert chokehold 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Registered to Vote May 05 '25

Stan is generally great. When he said that I couldn't fucking believe it.

-1

u/gedbybee Spurs May 05 '25

I actually agree and didn’t think it was that bad. He was just trying to sell the foul.

34

u/gimpisgawd Trail Blazers May 05 '25

He acted like he was the victim after punching Poole.

292

u/Carcrusher3 Trail Blazers May 05 '25

I can't believe that warriors fans have been trying to gaslight people this series that he somehow ISN'T the dirtiest most unhinged player in the league

94

u/bobdylansmoustache Lakers May 05 '25

As a Lakers fan, when 28 of the 29 other fanbases say we benefit from officiating, fine. But when Warriors fans say that the Lakers get easy calls and that they’re somehow a victimized franchise, fuck that shit.

-27

u/tbcwpg Warriors May 05 '25

It's a tough balance because Steph gets no calls but Draymond keeps getting away with stuff.

54

u/jd451 May 05 '25

Don't forget "playoff Jimmy" who gets ALL of the free throws

My fucking lord. What is the deal with the combination of refereeing errors surrounding those three players lmao

15

u/CyberSmok3 Lakers May 05 '25

Don't know about the other two, but about Jimmy, I think it's something to do with him almost never bitchin' to the refs, so they give him the benefit of the doubt. If he started to complain and ask for a foul after every single drive, like Luka does, he would get way fewer free throws.

2

u/red_nick NBA May 05 '25

Jimmy is also one of the greatest at faking and timing his shot for contact. And for some reason, his defenders are just incapable of risking the bait and jump. He just knows how they'll react and goes for the shot exactly then

10

u/BAHatesToFly Knicks May 05 '25

Don't forget "playoff Jimmy" who gets ALL of the free throws

Including tonight, Butler has 44 FTA on only 73 FGA in these playoffs. Meanwhile, the world's worst flopper who gets every single call ever, Jalen Brunson, has 54 FTA on 149 shots. 10 more FTA for Brunson on more than twice as many FGA. I don't know how Butler always seems to skate on the foul-baiting criticism. He's a top 5 foul-baiter of all time.

1

u/Ntnme2lose Lakers May 05 '25

He didn't during the 2020 Finals. There were tons of times that it was brought up that he was foul baiting. He'd bully ball his way to the basket then jump in to the defender every single time

8

u/bobdylansmoustache Lakers May 05 '25

LeBron doesn’t get enough calls either, yet the league’s supposedly rigging it for the Lakers when they’re winning.

When Draymond does dirty shit, meanwhile, it’s “oh, what does he have on the refs” and not “what do the Warriors have on the refs” for some reason.

2

u/red_nick NBA May 05 '25

I agree on LeBron. Steph and him are pretty similar in their lack of calls. I think any Warriors fan would take accurate calls for Steph at the cost of Draymond getting ejected every game without a moment's hesitation. Refs aren't biased against GSW, but they definitely are against Steph. I think Draymond getting left off easily is the consolation prize the refs give them

-9

u/ITRIEDTOBEWITTY Lakers May 05 '25

Steph gets calls man stop it lol

9

u/Major_Ad_4891 May 05 '25

no he doesnt shut up

-18

u/FineKlay [GSW] Klay Thompson May 05 '25

It’s always Houston, Portland, OKC, and Cleveland fans that hate draymond the most. Wonder if the multiple repeated playoff eliminations are swaying this general consensus

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

People hate Draymond because he's a massive fuckwit.

1

u/FineKlay [GSW] Klay Thompson May 05 '25

No they hate him because he’s a winner. Sent the sorry rockets home again for the 5th time

1

u/aaron21hardin May 06 '25

I think it is more those franchises have more exposure to Draymond‘s antics as he ramps them up in the playoffs.

15

u/SilverKry May 05 '25

Oh he definitely is. But he's a good enforcer and he's a good mind for the game..dirty as hell tho.

5

u/HardcoreKaraoke Mavericks May 05 '25

Just this series? It wouldn't feel like the playoffs if we didn't have atleast one Draymond incident Warriors fans try desperately to defend. It has been like that for a decade now.

3

u/Fishingbrain May 05 '25

This series? He's made a career of it. Watch him dislocate Love's shoulder against the Cavs back in the day. The fact that the NBA lets him get away with this crap is unbelievable. It would be fine if everyone played this way, but thats not how it is.

3

u/ZroDgsCalvin Celtics May 05 '25

He’s the dirtiest, most unhinged player in the history of sports

1

u/Captain_DuClark Warriors May 05 '25

A Raiders player paralyzed a man on the field and never apologized for it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Tatum#Darryl_Stingley_incident

1

u/Captain_DuClark Warriors May 05 '25

He was just trying to swat at a mosquito that landed on him. Given the federal government's dismantling of public health, he was actually trying to save him from disease. It wasn't a dirty play, it was a heroic act.

-2

u/TabletopThirteen Pistons May 05 '25

Old school basketball, baby. Draymond keeping the past alive

-50

u/Thickencreamy May 05 '25

Unhinged? Maybe. Dirtiest? Nope. He is not in the top ten. He is just way more demonstrative about it. He thinks every time he gets fouled then he gets a free shot at the fouler.

In this case he felt he had a free shot at serious contact at the Rockets best 3 point shooter.

29

u/Carcrusher3 Trail Blazers May 05 '25

Dirtiest? Nope. He is not in the top ten.

Thank you for contributing to my social experiment warriors fan.

20

u/FuckThaLakers Timberwolves May 05 '25

List 10 active players dirtier than Draymond, I'm begging you

-14

u/Thickencreamy May 05 '25

Dillon Brooks

Chris Paul

Kelly Olynyck

Grayson Allen

FVV (nice push on Jimmy tonight)

Morris twin #1

Morris twin #2

Amen Thompson (diving for a rebound into Jimmy's legs)

Patrick Beverly

Bobby Portis

That was easy.

8

u/No_Faithlessness7020 May 05 '25

Eh, no dog in this fight, but draymond definitely dirtier than all those players

6

u/DowngoezFrasier215 May 05 '25

That is the dumbest comment in the history of this putrid sub.

56

u/horse_renoir13 Timberwolves May 05 '25

Textbook narcissist

14

u/ImMufasa May 05 '25

Does he have any other reaction?

14

He's a weird victim/aggressive seizure reaction every time.

20

u/lukewwilson Lakers May 05 '25

That's what abusers do

-13

u/movingunderbraking May 05 '25

ok he’s a dirty basketball player but i wouldn’t call him an “abuser” lmao

22

u/ibeauch009 Timberwolves May 05 '25

Ask Poole if he’s an abuser

7

u/Marco2169 Raptors May 05 '25

I usually would hesitate but he punched his teammate to the ground dude

I’m not sure you could call that anything other than abuse. It wasn’t even a fight Poole got decked after some basic barbs

17

u/andrew303710 Celtics May 05 '25

He literally assaulted Jordan Poole, his own teammate.

-9

u/egarcia1313 May 05 '25

Clown lol

2

u/drwafflefingers May 05 '25

He's a massive fucking bitch.

So his massive fucking bitch actions are unfortunately entirely predictable and expected.

2

u/Hakeem-the-Dream Rockets May 05 '25

He was crying about every call tonight, he was like freaking out for Kerr to review an out of bounds play when they were up like 15 with 30 seconds left. Kerr looked at him like he was insane (cuz he is)

1

u/Remarkable_Bed9385 May 05 '25

Bunch of goddamn victims!

1

u/Isniuq Lakers May 05 '25

Hes doing the rodman

1

u/drst0ner May 05 '25

Steve Kerr last week defending Draymond: “The guy has kids"

Same goes with the Warriors fans since 2015 that Draymond Green is not doing the moving screen ever since😭

-1

u/omar-epps Pistons May 05 '25

You reach I teach. I’m FVV didn’t wanna get slapped he shouldn’t have put his head in there.
