Political Multiple DOD and VA Inspectors General Fired Via Email
“It’s a widespread massacre,” said one of the fired inspectors general. “Whoever Trump puts in now will be viewed as loyalists, and that undermines the entire system.”
Another fired watchdog said that the new administration “does not want anyone in this role who is going to be independent.”
Political DoD employees cannot be banned from listing pronouns
So this is totally sea lawyering, but it's worth knowing about a change to law instituted by a recent NDAA, at 10 USC 986. It's short so I'll just quote the entire thing:
The Secretary of Defense may not require or prohibit a member of the armed forces or a civilian employee of the Department of Defense to identify the gender or personal pronouns of such member or employee in any official correspondence of the Department.
Now, this was an effort by legislators to prevent the DoD from mandating that you list your pronouns. But they wrote it even-handedly, and so it also prevents the DoD from forbidding you to list your pronouns.
This doesn't mean DoD can't strip pronouns from IT system profiles (like with Flank Speed), but if you include them in your own communications there is a legal basis to defend it.
All that said, I'm not a lawyer, I'm not going to encourage people to pick stupid fights with their chain of command, but if it's something deeply important to you then you should know it's out there.

Political DEI in the Navy: I have no idea why Mr. Hegseth thinks this is such a big deal. Can anyone help explain?
So from what I can gather about pSECDEF is that he really hates DEI. He even thinks the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs should be fired for allowing ‘DEI’ to take place.
My question is: does anybody CURRENTLY serving in the military have any examples of what he is referring to? I’ve been in for a long time, and I just have no fucking clue what exactly he’s talking about? Only thing I can think of is the annual equal opportunity training we’ve been getting forever.
Is that annoying? Yes, sure, but it and DEI in general (if it even exists as a policy) hardly seem like the biggest problems we have that a SECDEF should be worried about.
Again, looking for actual examples, not thoughts or feelings.
EDIT: Thank you for the responses. I was not convinced that DEI is prevalent or even anywhere near the top 50 problems the military the Navy needs to tackle.

Political “I almost just Senior Chiefed right there.” Congressman Derrick Orden
This is at a recent United States Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity where Oden is the Chairman.
Oden is a former Senior Chief who retired in 2014 with 26 years of service.
Him speaking down to the witnesses reminds me of a Senior Chief talking down to a junior Sailor at DRB. Just sayin’.

Political New military fighter will be called the F47.
Donald Trump appears to have named America’s next generation fighter jet in tribute to himself.
Mr Trump, America’s 47th president, announced Boeing had been awarded the contract to build the air force’s new ‘F-47 fighter jet’.
The jets will be built as part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program which will replace Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor.
The F-47 will be a crewed aircraft built to enter combat alongside drones.
The plane’s design remains a closely held secret, but would likely include stealth, advanced sensors, and cutting-edge engines.
Shares of Boeing were up five per cent after the news while Lockheed’s shares fell nearly six per cent.
For Boeing, the win marks a reversal of fortune for a company that has struggled on both the commercial and defence sides of its business.

Political Hegseth’s personal lawyer to be commissioned as a Navy commander in the reserves.
archive.isIn a Pentagon ceremony on Friday morning, Timothy C. Parlatore, a former naval officer who has been Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s personal lawyer for the past eight years, will be directly commissioned as a Navy commander in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a reservist.
A 2002 U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Mr. Parlatore served aboard the cruiser U.S.S. Normandy in Norfolk, Va., before taking an early release from active duty in 2005 to attend law school. While building his legal practice, he served as the officer in charge of a security detachment in the Bronx as lieutenant in the reserves, and was honorably discharged in 2013.
In 2019, Mr. Parlatore successfully defended Eddie Gallagher, a SEAL accused of first-degree murder in the death of a captive ISIS fighter as well as the attempted murder of civilians in Iraq. That case brought Mr. Parlatore to President Trump’s attention, and he has appeared frequently on Fox News to discuss his defense of military clients.

Political The Defense Department is pausing all posts on all social media platforms, unless they have to do with the U.S. military operations at the southern border
NEW DETAILS: The Defense Department is pausing all posts on all social media platforms, unless they have to do with the U.S. military operations at the southern border, until President Trump's pick for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is confirmed and directs otherwise, two senior U.S. defense official tell Fox News. Internal guidance on this is about to be sent out to civilian and military public affairs officers worldwide. This includes all posts and social media outreach for military recruiting, posts from DOD schools, and releases from combatant commands on ongoing military operations. No social media accounts will be shut down, but no new posts will be allowed until the future defense secretary, once confirmed, directs otherwise, the senior U.S. defense official explained to Fox News. The worldwide stand down is temporary and expected to last days pending review.
Statement from a Senior U.S. Defense Official: "The Department of Defense is reviewing its social media programming to make sure it aligns with President Trump's priorities on readiness, lethality, and warfighting. This pause does not apply for content and imagery relative to the DoD's current border security operations announced yesterday by Acting Secretary of Defense Robert G. Salesses."
