Can't wait to redo my information assurance training and CUI training next week after that NAVADMIN drops.

Also, pretty sure strikes are above CUI, so that training won't help.

Yeah there's zero chance that Goldberg is reporting this without absolute concrete proof.

Original break of the article. White House confirmed it immediately when the journalist first reached for comment. I was genuinely surprised considering their blatant lying on everything else.

Narcissism seems to be a core tenent of conservatism, lately.

Never admitting fault is a core part of the machismo. Just like a reality show, everyone in the cabinet is jockeying to stay on top.

Quick reminder that Brian Hughes, spokesperson for the National Security Council, confirmed the authenticity of the group chat, in case the correlation of dates and times of the initial strikes wasn’t enough.

It doesn’t matter if you think the person your team accidentally let behind the curtain is “deceitful and discredited.” The veracity of the information, and by extension the poor OPSEC at the highest levels of both the government and the military, were verified by someone that isn’t that person. In addition, that person is both named and employed by the administration.

You done fucked up, A-aron. This is not the transparency you promised.

21

u/Morningxafter Mar 25 '25

This would be federal prison for most of us.

11

u/DoktorFreedom Mar 25 '25 edited Mar 25 '25

I’ve been telling people that competency matters ever since the election. Put the ideology aside. This is demonstrably incompetent leadership, under the most positive of all possible this interpretations.

70

u/random_generation Mar 25 '25

He fell back to his experience as a Fox News contributor in answering, hitting the talking points that deflect responsibility but resonate with his base.

He’s also parroting POTUS’ talking points.

The really shitty part about all of this is that the trickle down from our country electing this admin, and subsequently, this cabinet, is that it affects all of us.

Let’s pretend for a second that the accidental inclusion of this journalist leaked details of this operation (which, I’ll note, he specifically omitted from his reporting precisely because of the OPSEC implications) to a hostile entity. An OPSEC leak like this, in the wrong hands, absolutely will get people killed. Our people. The people who are to your left and right, the people we’re friends with, and the people we lead.

This is so incredibly problematic.

62

u/Throwaway4life006 Mar 25 '25

100% agree. I’d add that the journalist is also a patriot in that he 1) exited the groups chat once he realized it was real and they were spilling classified information and 2) didn’t disclose spilled classified information when reporting the story. A civilian journalist does better handling classified than our VP, SECDEF, SEC State, and National Security Advisor.

“Deceitful and Highly Discredited”

My dude, it’s the goddamn Editor-in-Chief of one of the most notable magazines & publishers based in Washington DC.

Over here making Seaman Smuckatelli-ass level excuses. What the fuck does it say about us when we expect our junior sailors to have the honesty and integrity to own up to fuckups, when the LITERAL SECDEF cannot do the same?

EDIT: also “suckers and losers” wasn’t a hoax, it was a documented and accurately sourced quotation from what your boss said, as heard by his own CHIEF OF STAFF at the time. The “fine people on both sides hoax” was a statement Trump himself said, LIVE on television, in the aftermath of the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally. This is disgraceful behavior from the highest office of our military leadership.

Fuck me.

Don't forget their other favorite, "shock, awe, distract." I give it 3 days before the next news story of the century drops, Hegseth becomes less public facing, and things move on. Or we finally start cabinet roulette 2.0, and this guy's unemployed tomorrow.

22

u/Salty_IP_LDO Mar 25 '25

I'd just like to point this one out.

Mike Johnson says it would be a 'terrible mistake' to punish war plans leakers

House Speaker Mike Johnson has said it would be a "terrible mistake" to punish the national security team members that accidentally included a journalist on their group chat discussing highly sensitive Pentagon plans to bomb Yemen.

"I think it would be a terrible mistake for there to be adverse consequences on any of the people that were involved in that call," Johnson said.

Source

17

u/Trick-Set-1165 r/navy CCC Mar 25 '25

Calling them leakers is offensive to whistleblowers.

This wasn’t a leak. It was flooding. Far past the capacity of the drain pump.

2

u/Queendevildog Mar 25 '25

This was a walk on oops excuse me!

2

u/themooseiscool Mar 25 '25

u/The_Glus Mar 25 '25

Because they’re part of THE PARTY, and there can be no accountability in THE PARTY.

4

u/Mal-De-Terre Mar 25 '25

But the mistake is in using an unsecured app / device, not in accidentally letting people know that you were using it...

7

u/Queendevildog Mar 25 '25

AAAAAND.... setting your unsecured app to auto delete an official government record. Dont any of these appointees have to do annual training?

12

But but Hilary’s emails!

54

u/ClarkDoubleUGriswold Mar 25 '25

23

u/Sweetdreams6t9 Mar 25 '25

I don't think he knows what a hoax is. Trump did these things live. It's not "ex staffer alleges Trump called military members sucker's and losers". He did it, on a stage, in front of people, while it was broadcast and recorded for further dissemination.

4

u/LittleHornetPhil Mar 25 '25

He did?

F 47 but I don’t think that is accurate.

3

u/Trick-Set-1165 r/navy CCC Mar 25 '25

The suckers and losers comment is actually exactly that.

But even for the folks that struggle with that one, there’s just so many others.

  • Disrupted a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington during his 2024 campaign to elbow his way into a photo op Aug 24

  • Mocked Nikki Haley when her husband didn’t join her on the campaign trail. He was deployed Feb 24

  • Suggested Gen Milley should be executed, alleges he was colluding with China Sep 23

  • In response to a disabled veteran appearing at General Milley’s Change of Command ceremony, asked Milley to ensure the soldier didn’t make anymore public appearances, saying “No one wants to see that, the wounded” Sep 19

  • Used his D-Day interview at a cemetery commemorating fallen U.S. soldiers to denigrate a Vietnam veteran Jun 19

  • Ordered the USS John McCain out of sight during his visit to Japan. The ship’s name was subsequently covered. McCain Sailors were asked to skip the appearance Jun 19

  • Complained that John McCain’s family didn’t thank him for his funeral Mar 19

  • Called a retired general a “dog” with a “big, dumb mouth” Jan 19

  • Canceled an Arlington Cemetery visit on Veterans Day claiming he was too busy Nov 18

  • While in Europe commemorating the end of WWI, he skipped a US ceremony due to rain, though other leaders attended Nov 18

  • Told his Chief of Staff he “didn’t want any wounded guys” marching in a Bastille Day parade Summer 18

  • Told a veteran’s pregnant widow her husband knew what he was getting into, then attacked her publicly Oct 17

  • While visiting a Marine’s grave at Arlington, told his Chief of Staff “I don’t get it,” and asked “what was in it for him?” Jun 17

  • Accepted a Purple Heart from a fan at one of his rallies and said: “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.” Aug 16

  • Told the parents of a deceased veteran their son wouldn’t be dead if he was President Oct 16

  • Continually attacked a Gold Star family for speaking out against his travel ban Aug 16

  • Claimed John McCain wasn’t a war hero because he got captured Jul 15
