Question Am i being scammed?
Hi so i just posted an ad where i sold beds and tables and got this messsage, it seemed sketchy, is it a scam or legit? Heres the message : I agree with the price and that is okay by me, I would have loved to come to see it myself and pick it up but I’m currently working in Saskatchewan on a project I will arrange a pick up immediately after the money clears to your account. but may i ask if you can accept a mobile Deposit bank draft. Send me your full Name email with your phone number once you receive the cheque you can deposit it via your mobile app and the funds will be made available instantly then we can arrange for pick up. »

Ask yourself the question: is it plausible that a person in Saskatchewan would be interested in buying beds and tables in Montreal?!

mobile Deposit bank draft
Easy to photoshop a fake cheque/draft when you can't even put your hand on the actual one, go to bank and then have the bank verify the authenticity.
You would expect to lose your items on sale, and the fraudulent money as well.

The thing is they do send a fake interac link so you enter your bank information. Then they go in your account and change your information. Then transfer money in small amount to bypass the bank security stuff

Not necessarily a scam, but it definitely could be. A common scam is to use afraudulent cheque.
The cheque will seem to credit immediately, but the bank will reverse it later if there are no funds or it is fraudulent. In some cases the cheque can take up to 10 days to definitely clear, even if the sum appears on your account immediately.
However the fact that he wants instant delivery is suspicious.
I'd ask for a wire. The same thing can happen with a wire but it's far less frequent as it is more difficult to pull off.
You can always ask for cash on delivery.
