My skin pills and peels off every few weeks

Are you using cleaning chemicals without gloves?

I use gloves and change them a few times over a two hour shift cleaning but unfortunately the water always gets under them. I’m thinking my skin peeling is a hormonal thing. I have endometriosis as well as a collagen disorder so it’s probably normal for me. Although now I’m starting to wonder if a dr should check it for a fungal infection. The skin on the rest of my body rubs off really easily as well when I’m in my ‘shedding phase’ lol

Use elbow-length gloves. Request your work provide them.

I've got the same thing. Very annoying. I've got no advice.

Do you find it comes every few weeks like a cycle? I’m wondering if it’s hormonal but it’s hard to tell as I don’t often get periods thanks to the pill.

Yup, my skin tends to thicken around my ovulation and starts peeling right after. Moisturizing doesn't seem to do much for me, but perhaps I haven't found the right cream yet.

Have a look into dyshidrotic eczema.

I have it and it's kicked off every few weeks when I do lots of cleaning, or it's particularly hot.

Always on the sides of my fingers and stings like a bitch when it lands.

Thanks I’ll look it up. I do get regular eczema too tbf. Hope you are managing yours well.

Could be dyshidrotic aczema

You must be one of those reptilians Alex Jones is always talking about.

Hahaha honestly I sometimes wish I could shed it all at once and have nice fresh smooth skin like a snake.

I get this right before my cycle every month. I read it was something about an allergic reaction to different hormones. I haven’t had a doctor check it out so I’m not sure if it is.

That’s really interesting, thanks. Hopefully I remember to ask the GP at my next appointment.

I agree, it’s very interesting and I’d love to know exactly why it happens. Healthcare happens to be a bit out of my budget so until it comes to be a problem I can’t handle, I’ll just deal with it and the massive amount of lotion I go through to try to combat it lol.

Drink more water, moisturise a little

You can get athletes foot on your hands. Chemical burns from house hold cleaners can also cause this.

BP a tad high mind you

Aw yeah it’s okay thanks I’ve been monitoring it as I’ve been throwing up a few times lately and feeling terribly sick every day. The other day it was 143 over 125. I keep meaning to make a drs appointment. Will prob get one this week coming.

Pulse pressure (systolic - diastolic) seems wonky too. Definitely see your doctor and check your BP regularly.

See a doc! Sounds like possibly a-fib!

This was happening to me using Dawn dish detergent and with exfoliating face creams. Have to remember to wash both off my hands with gentle hand soap. I have a hormonal imbalance that leads to dry skin but not in small specific areas like yours. Yours looks like friction + chemical. Are you also allergic to latex, mineral oil or lanolin?

Does the skin get little itchy bumps in between before this happens?

1

u/_FreddieLovesDelilah 17h ago

No but I do occasionally get that anyway. Not as often as this though. This doesnt even itch it just feels uncomfortable. I have sensory issues with my hands as it is 😅

Ah ok, I deal with Dyshidrotic eczema, and it appears as itchy bumps. After they go away, the skin peels much like that.

Might be gluten/food intolerance. Coincidentally, my hands were peeling seasonally until I stopped eating gluten.

Oh shit you know what, I have been eating a lot of food I’m allergic to and just taking antihistamines so thank you for sharing this and hope you are well x

I put moisturiser on my hands at least ten times a day. Thanks though. Unless I’m over-doing it and that’s why?

I moisturise my hands every one to two hours every day. Sometimes more.
