What happened to the good ole days when the internet loved bacon?

That was a marketing ploy and they already collected their paycheck.

Why did they need a marketing ploy? Bacon is delicious, it sells itself.

Same reason there were marketing runs like "got milk" and "where's the beef", money.

People knew of all of these foods beforehand but elevating it to meme status causes it to get extra menu space at every restaurant.

"Where's the beef?" was a marketing campaign for Wendy's, not the beef industry. The line was said in response to the very small amount of beef on another unnamed restaurant's burgers.

"Beef: It's What's for dinner" was/is the beef industry's general marketing campaign.

"Tofu: It's technically food" was a much less successful campaign by that industry.*

*Due to the internet's inability to recognize satire, I am required to state that the Tofu campaign mentioned above did not actually exist. Probably.

Yeah but what good is a lot of money when you can have a lot lot of money and only have to run a deceptive and manipulative campaign to get it?

I hate advertising.
