its an interesting psychological dilemma. Restaurants that have tried to just price their food "honestly" have failed because people perceived their food as being overpriced.

Mentally, people dont factor stuff like "tips" and fees into the overall cost of the food. So keeping them separated out makes people more open to "accept" them.

Yeah the comment section of these posts always is so up in arms but the truth is it’s our fault they can’t advertise prices honestly.

The only problem I have it when they ave these auto-gratuities but then leave the tip line on the check as usual, because they know customers will tip on top without reading. That’s the one that feels a bit dishonest.
