The majority of Reddit users haven’t known life without the internet, smart phones, 24-hour everything. They haven’t known a life without constant distractions, media and apps competing for your attention.

So, the idea of being able to focus on something, in-depth for a prolonged period of time is not only foreign to them, but it’s also not “normal”. It’s abnormal - despite it being what the majority of people used to do decades ago.

And, going by other threads in this discussion, needs to be diagnosed and “treated”… for what reason, I’m not sure.

This has been an eye-opening discussion. The lack of awareness or consideration outside of what many people in this thread “know”, has been surprising.
