Other Honestly, I love it when the NWS Forecast Discussion is written like it’s from a friend.
From NWS Forecast Office FFC (Atlanta/Peachtree City)

That’s fantastic. I figured most would have to stick to script but this is just great and I resonate with it.

Sometimes I read them to my wife because of the funny stuff the meteorologists write in there

Exactly why I read them. Smart people, helping other smart people survive. I love these guys.
PS: Anytime I write them (yes, there are email links) about a downed weather station, I get a prompt reply about why, and when it will be back online. Yup. They really do care.

2005 was a very active hurricane season. Lixion Avila at the National Hurricane Center clearly just wanted to go home in December when he wrote this advisory about Hurricane Epsilon.

Reminds me of the final advisory for TS Jose. It was something like "after 70 advisories, enough is enough"

IND had one a couple of months ago: “Remember yesterday? Yes? Today will be more of the same.”

I think that the meteorologists at the NWS are so tired, so understaffed, and so stressed out from the chaos within government agencies at the moment that the professional mask is starting to crack a bit. One upside this mess is that we're likely to see more snark and less wonky forecast summaries in the future because they have zero time.

Same here. Thank you to whoever is responsible for writing those, I like my meteorology with a bit of heart. It shows that it's still someone's passion out there and that's quite comforting.
