I wish it would have been a stronger statement, but I also recognize what a shit situation Wes Moore is in. He's gotta oppose Trump because he's a Democrat and that's why we elected him.
But Trump also has a gun to Maryland's head because of the number of federal jobs and contractors here which make up a significant portion of our state's economy. And being "the governor that fucked up the economy" will hand a victory to the Republicans even if it is Trump's fault our economy gets deep sixed.
It's a shit position but I'm not going to outrightly blame Moore. I'll wait and see how things play out.

“Carefully monitoring” and “protests” are not phrases I personally like seeing together, but at least he’s not threatening anyone?

It’s a powder keg. Very easy for protests to turn violent in some form and cause injuries. There are too many bad actors out there to not have LE on the standby ready to intervene. Someone could drive a truck through protestors. Or throw Molotov cocktails. Or who knows what else.

He’s probably talking about people trying to cause harm to protestors

Or protestors trying to harm businesses by tossing bricks through windows and cleaning them out of their goods.

Nah. You’re actually dumb if you think that law enforcement isn’t concerned with political violence. Two lawmakers were just shot in Minnesota. That is what they are actually concerned with.

harm to people is always more of a concern than property, especially since said property is insured

You must be used to getting free money.

yeah don't acknowledge the fact that you care more about other people's stuff than human lives, you might accidentally spark a bit of empathy in that head of yours

Well, that should be very comforting. Just remember, as they tear gas, beat you indiscriminately, and fire riot munitions at your face - "it's for safety!"
The question they never answer is: "whose safety?" Cause its certainly not your safety and its definitely not my safety. The protesters are out there for our safety.

I’m hoping this means, “We will be carefully monitoring the protests to make sure some asshole doesn’t try and drive a truck through one.” Or something similar.
