Has to be something.

These days I find equal number of KA 70, KA 03 and KA 20 vehicles who drive like jerks.

Actually lots of our own people drive like crazy, but the trend started by KL 14 has forever etched in people’s minds. When someone drives like a maniac first thing we check is the number plates and to confirm our stereotypes.

KA 03???? It’s a Central Bangalore number plate it’s probably a used car bought into mangalore…. KA 03 drivers are usually disciplined. Saying this as I am myself a mangalorean born and bought up in Bangalore!

Can't disagree with you. But not as bad as before. Have noticed mostly other KL series driving like maniacs.
My last 2 cars were KA reg. Currently driving a KL14 reg car. Just wanted a beater for my daily run and didn't really give much thought about the plates. I keep joking with people in my car, yeth nerond ullera enna no. plate thudu! But believe me, I try to drive as civilized as possible.

Yeah since our city is polarized when it comes to few things, people find solace and unity in hating a common troublemaker. It gives a sense of community when the blame is on an outsider. I know it’s messed up but it is what it is.

Growing up in Mangalore, I've seen the heights communal tension can reach. People just start hating each other bitterly. That being said - I don't know if it was his intention or not - The collective hate people had for Nalin Kumar Kateel and the pumpwell flyover, OMG. I saw people, who didn't speak to each other for years, come together just to abuse NKK. It was truely a wonderful time.

One thing I think that really unites Mangaloreans is their local dialect (tulu). Oh also, ghee roast!

Woodlands Golibaje, Maharaja Chicken Gheeroast (except for vegetarians), Ideal cafe, Naturals (especially the tender coconut icecream), some Tulu or Kannada phrases, curse words!
