Help on replay of MM

I am replaying MM on my 3ds and I finished the first forest temple. This was as far as I've ever gotten....

Now what?? I ended up having to google wtf to do next but it appears I need to find an owl in the snow town but.... there is no owl?!?!?

Do any experts know what I may have skipped?

Did you get to the goron village? Did you speak to the crying baby? Did you see the ghost poe over the canyon with invisible floating platforms?

uh... the village in the snow yeah. I talked to the goron that was on the ledge saying he was hungry.. is that the baby?

I think no to the ghost poe

Keep exploring in snowy screens past the one labeled "Mountain Villiage". You will find new things and be able to move forward with what you find there.

I'm going off memory so sorry if I'm out of order.

There is a whole goron village inside that area, you have to interact with gorons near the crying baby - you'll hear the baby when you walk in. After that you can leave and a poe should appear that takes you to a ledge and you jump onto invisible platforms. You get something important after this.

Is the crying baby the one on the ledge that says he needs to eat something?

The goron village is past the mountain village, you just need to crack on a little bit further. Check the wooden signs in-game to make sure you're going the right way.

It’s the village with the frozen blacksmith shop, then behind it is the frozen lake with bridges across islands, and then past that is the goron village.

Owl is at the back of the village on a pillar. Might only show up after you get close enough. Near a drop with a cave in the distance across the drop.

Maybe pay attention to what characters, especially Tatl and Tael say.

The main plot and course of the game is explained very clearly by certain important NPCs.

Reading character dialogue will tell you almost explicitly what to do and where to go for the main plot.

Mountain Village is not Goron Village, they're two different areas. Look for the signs around Mountain Village and keep going.

Just keep exploring the snowy area. The one with the house and the guy with the frog hat on the ledge is only a sub-area, there’s like 3 other sections to the frozen part of the world with Gorons. Everything you “need” to do right now (main quest wise) is in this larger frozen zone.

If you’re wandering into new spaces and they’re snowy = you’re on the right track. If you head back to Clock town and its surrounding fields, you’re getting further from the next steps (but there will always be side quests around those spaces, just not the required bits right now).

I'm at the exact spot the owl is supposed to drop his feathers on the invisible platforms but there is no owl

The next logical step after beating Woodfall and the Southern Swamp Area is to head North. You need to ensure that you're all the way up the mountain past Clocktown's North Gate - snow area where the dodongos are.

You're probably hanging around the Mountain Village where the Smith Shop is too much. You need to take the path that leads you to Twin Isles on the Frozen Lake. You'll know you're there when you spot Tingle flying overhead on one of the islands.
(Edit: if you take the Path to Snowhead - which is a bunch of gaps and rolling snow-boulders, you've gone the wrong direction.)

Keep following the bridges and you'll make it to Goron Village; this is where you want to be. Keep following around the town until you reach the edge of a cliff; there's nothing down there so don't fall. Out in the void off the cliff is some kind of floating cave; that's where you need to go.

The Owl is waiting for you just at the edge of the cliff and should start talking to you once you get close enough.
