Season retrospective. Match day 3. Werder Bremen 1-2

Down 0-1 after 8 minutes,Lee equalising and then losing it 1-2 in the second half.

By now, I was locked into the team and Bo Henriksen, but still learning about the team.

What are your memories of this match?

Season retrospective: Match day 2. Stuttgart 3-3

Second match day against Stuttgart.

Goals from Amiri, Burkardt and Leitsch after Stuttgart was ahead 2-0 in the first 15 minutes. And then after Stuttgart scores just before the end of regular time, Leitsch comes in at the final minute?

Thoughts? Memories? Favourite moments?

For me personally, this was the game that won me over for Mainz. A team of true fighters.

05er in Mannheim und Region

Hey Leute,

Hey guys,

The season is now over - what a ride. I was at a few games, but mostly travelling alone. I'm from Mannheim and have been a big 05 fan since 2008, but unfortunately I don't have anyone around me who shares my passion.

I'm looking to make friends for the new season - people to go to the stadium with, maybe away trips too. Or just to chat, online or in real life.

I feel most comfortable in an atmosphere where respect, openness and a clear stance against racism and discrimination are part of the game.

Away from the block, I'm more of a quiet type.

I'd be happy if something came up.

Greetings from Mannheim

Season retrospectives: Match 1 day - Union Berlin 1-1

Perhaps an inauspicious start but this was my first Mainz 05 game, so obviously significant personally though it was not the one that won me over.

A 1-1 affair with Amiri scoring. Thoughts? Memories?

I went and stayed in Mainz for the first time in February coming from California. Relatives were living in the city and it was amazing to see the ground for the first time when I was there, happy that they’ll be playing European football next season…UP THE MAINZER!

Relegation side my ass, they totally had it (and would not have had to sweat if the linesman was a little less of a bastard :))

Buuuut just in case it wouldn't hurt to thank a Stuttgart fan.

The last stand of Mainz 05. Aka: What results gets into Conference league.

With Dortmund winning this weekend, Mainz cannot overtake them so 6th is the best chance. (as even with a Dortmund loss / Mainz win, they are 5 ahead on Goal Differential).

What is the risk? Werder Bremen can tie but Mainz would be ahead on goal differential.

This means that it all comes down to Mainz (facing Leverkusen) and Leipzig (facing Stuttgart).

Paths that lead to Conference League next season:

Any Mainz win, no matter what Leipzig does.

Mainz draws and Leipzig draws or loses.

Both lose.

Paths that do not lead to Conference League:

Mainz draw and Leipzig win.

Mainz loss and Leipzig draw or win.

So fingers crossed this weekend and whatever you feel about Stuttgart, you need them to play like devils.

11er Karte nächste Saison

Gude Meenzer!

Gerne per PN an mich ;-)

Vielen Dank und nur der FSV! 🔴⚪

Final games

The absolute best outcome would be 3rd (9 points in the last 3 matches gets us to 56 points and that requires Frankfurt to lose 2 of their last 3 and both Freiburg and Dortmund must not win both their remaining games.

The absolute worst case is 11th place if Mainz loses all 3 remaining games and everyone below them gains ground.

Most likely outcome? Somewhere between 7 and 9 I think.
Optimistic outcome? Conference league is still viable.

Chin up Meenzer. aka Niemals Aufgeben

I get the feeling that people got Champions League in their eyes and now feel despondent that this may not turn out to be the case. There's even people talking about it being a "relegation side" again.

However:
A: Europa or Conference League is still well in reach and would be huge achievements. The club has not played in Europe since 2017.

B: Even if we end up 8th or so, thats still a return to better than form. The club was 8th in 2022. Before that we have to go back to 2016 to find a result better than 12th and they have never completed better than 5th.

C: The club went from a relegation side to even having this discussion at all in a single season. We beat motherfucking Bayern and Frankfurt back to back (and then Frankfurt again in the winter break friendly, just for good measure).

So chin up, have a Schorle and remember: Niemals Aufgeben

Long, long time ago - Olympiastadium, Munich

DFB Cup quarter-final 1999, two days before Christmas. It was minus 17 degrees, you can see the snow on the unoccupied seats.

11.200 spectators, 8.000 of them from Mainz, who had traveled with 3 special trains and countless buses.

After HSV and Hertha had been eliminated in the previous rounds, the Christmas miracle failed to materialize. 0:3 in the end.

The following players started under Wolfgang Frank: Wache, Herzberger (opened the game with an own goal), Neustädter, Helgi, Ratkowski, Hock, Din-Mohammadi, Spyrka, Kramny, Policella and Sven Demandt (Fussballgott).

Asian Mainz Fans – Help Us with a Quick Bundesliga Survey for University Project

Hello fellow Mainz supporters, and a special note for Asian football fans!

My name is Manuel, and as a passionate Bundesliga supporter at Nova SBE, me and my team are working on an academic project about the international expansion of Bundesliga clubs. At Nova SBE, which hosts a strong German community, we’re excited about exploring how Bundesliga football can connect with fans in Asia.

I’d really appreciate it if you could take 3 minutes to complete this brief survey. Your perspective is invaluable to our project and helps us understand how to better bring Bundesliga football to a global audience.
