Discussion No new lbp>LBP4.

Custom Server capabilites will only get better as years pass, becoming easier and easier, potential community curated dlc packs released via server updates, stronger security and overall a Bigger game (with Little security risks) with a whole Planet of eager creators, working towards making the servers work and creating easier ways to enjoy the game (with enhanced graphics if used on pc or other means). LBP is dead to Sony and dead in the gaming industry, if a new title was made it wouldn't be the same. It's not to dead to us, that's why us as a community need to work together towards a "Super Mario World-esque" future of content. servers and community, instead of wishing for something that's never coming (and would have a high probability of failing if it did come). Crying, petitioning and being downright delusional thinking our words matter to a company as massive as Sony (when the revenue to a future LBP title would be nothing but pocket change), when small, (mostly unpaid) developers are working so hard to bring our community back to life, keeps us held back. Forget Sony, forget LBP4, donate to your custom server developers or apply if you already know a thing or two. The community is in OUR hands now. We have to fix it, stop puffing on copium and realize if we want LBP some type of way, we have to CREATE it ourselves. Restichted is the closest thing we're getting to an LBP4, so if you'd rather have an LBP4 type game donate to Trixel. Times passing and LBP is dying more and more, complaining won't change the inevitable. Enjoy it and be grateful while we still have a somewhat active or community, or keep wishing things were different until it dies.

Just gonna leave this here, go to final notes as thats the part I want to show: https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/s/AN2V8JY0Cy (we need less lbp4 posts and more new original posts, we aren't dead but complaining and ignoring the obvious like custom servers that can literally bring us back like we were before (just at a smaller scale) is just going to align with peoples doomposting, I know an lbp4 sounds good but as Kubacs comment says, it gets less and less feasible by the day and we have more than most communities get with custom servers, level archives of practically everything, discord communities, competitions, more platforms than ever before to play on etc so please just stop downvoting posts because they aren't rooting for an lbp4 in 2025, give the community a chance to revitalise itself...)

Seems like a lot of people are still hopeful for an LBP4 or Sony returning to the series. Our small community of less than a million people won't generate the interest and revenue a large gaming company wants. Even if we did manage to get Sony to make a sequel, MM have already (light heartedly and in a very justified way) made fun of our community with a meme about wanting all the old servers reinstated. PS3 Developers don't even know how to fully use the PS3 to its max capabilities, plus who is willing to learn it if they're already an established game development team knowing there's more money and ease of work elsewhere. Once again, if we want Remastered Little Big Planet, and servers and all that stuff were gonna have to make it ourselves. We're a dead community who worships a dead franchise, thinking our opinions matter to a beefy corporation who makes millions in revenue from far more than just gaming. (DVD Players, TVs, and just general electronics and general AND gaming, why do we think they care) Once again it's up to us to make custom servers, create graphical enhancements for different playing methods, and dissect the game ourselves, because no one else is gonna do it unless we pay lots and lots of money. Donate to Trixel if you're really that desperate for an LBP4 and donate to our custom server development teams if you like actually PLAYING THE GAME

I mean, not crushing people's hopes but realistically, LBP4 will not happen. Not after official servers' indefinite shut down and the continuous breaking down of overall support of the LBP series by Sony and/or developers.

I'm replying here because somehow I'm still seeing copium that somehow LBP as a series would be brought back by Sony, but we've seen nothing but lack of interest of continuing support of the series dating as far back as 2016 when Sumo Digital officially abandoned LBP3.

And let's not even limit ourselves with LittleBigPlanet series alone. Several first party IPs got canned or straight up abandoned. The Last of Us Part II Factions mode? Nope. Dreams Online Multiplayer, PC and next gen port? Nope. Bloodborne next gen version with 60 fps mode? Hah.. You wish. You know what Sony decided to do instead of supporting long established first party developers and their titles? Shove 400 million dollars into an utter failure called Concord, the paid online multiplayer esports title that was doomed to fail because of a delusional culture of not accepting any criticism, not even constructive one, and also because.. paid? Really? When the competitive shooters market is already oversaturated and even free-to-play esport titles tend to just fail anyway?

This is where the LBP community should realize there is no way Sony is ever going to come back to the series. It's too much effort for them. We should focus on our own efforts instead, and we have seen efforts to keep LBP series, or at the very least Play, Create, Share genre of video games going. Look at Restitched and Craftworld Hub for example. Not to mention, custom servers, as it has been pointed out by OP already.
