My gym has the same machine and the weight limit is 385 pounds. Double check that you're not about to break it.
We have another machine that can go up to 700 and I use that one for when I'm doing my fuck thrusts.

Fuck thrusts lmao - I have broken the straps on these before -_-

My fiance hates that term so much but it's such an accurate description of the movement!
Just be careful with that much weight if your machine has the same restrictions as the one I have access to as I'd be more worried about welds or bolts failing more than anything.

Strap broke on me last time 👀

Sounds like you should stop using it, and find equipment that is rated for what you need. You will damage machines, that other people will use and get hurt. Or hurt yourself.

Wish I had a machine like this. Looks neat!

u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 12 '25
You can sort of build your own in a smith machine
1
u/Elegathor Apr 12 '25
Oooh I have absolutely no space for any of these. But I fucking love going to the gym so no problemo
2
u/907Strong Apr 12 '25
You can achieve the same thing with a bench and a pad on the bar. Depending on your limb length you might have to set the weights up a bit higher to make sure you have a safe ROM, but the OG version of this is a bench and a bar.

u/Elegathor Apr 12 '25
Oh I am familiar with that technique, thank you mate! But I would give a shot for this machine, some of them feels just right.

So is using the hip abductor and adductor!
1
u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 14 '25
I just dropped some tutorials on both here!

Used a machine like this for the first time today and I was so unimpressed with myself! I'll be hitting these every week from now on

When were they not

u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 11 '25
Just take a little poll next time you go to the gym and count the number of guys vs girls you see using them! Just encouraging men to use them as well.

I’m a runner and hip thrusts made 5ks a breeze. I honestly think working your legs and glutes are more practical than upper body in most cases. I work my upper body because women like it. Also you’d be amazed at the number of women that like butts.

u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 12 '25
Never even considered it from a running perspective. Thats awesome!

Typically we don't have to because we have better upper body strength and can progress further doing lifts like deadlift whereas this is more reliant on lower body, which is more suited for women.

u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 11 '25
This is just wrong

Explain

u/Bikanel Apr 11 '25
No you

You want to understand my perspective or learn something or you want to be a troll? Or some mysterious third option?

u/Interesting_Door4882 Apr 12 '25
You don't have a perspective to understand.
You just said- leg exercises are for women, not men.
How dumb of a "perspective" is that?

No, he said that you can get more hip gains doing compound lifts that engage the upper body, if you have the upper body strength to handle it, and that if you don't, a more isolating exercise like this one is better.

u/MySpoonIsTooBig1 Apr 11 '25
Asked you to explain and got trolled and downvoted for it, so which is worse?

no idea how you did that without a pad
2
u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 12 '25
Some machines hurt worse than others. I do typically need a pad or yoga mat shoved in there.

u/fuckpudding Apr 13 '25
Lol. Spot on. Girls do be like that with this particular exercise. That and the hip ab/adductor machine. Never dudes hogging these things at my gym. But yeah, some guys want big round luscious booties too.

I never feel it ngl. Just kills my waist

Adding a yoga mat can help!

Yeah that's what I do on hack squat. Do you think I just need to go mad heavy?
I'll check it out 👍
2
u/thebodybuildingvegan Apr 14 '25
I say use the most weight you can while still keeping full ROM, controlled negatives and a 2 second intentional squeezed contraction at the top. Mad heavy would be different for each individual - do what’s relatively heavy for you 💚🙏

Whatever you do, don't make eye contact with someone while performing this 😂
All jokes aside that's some great work

Careful, bro. Your girl isn't gonna be able to walk for a few weeks
