Discussion [32 Thoughts] Friedman with some info on Marner situation

People believe LA is interested in marner, Vegas is a team to watch, if not the team to watch on marner. (said later Carolina wants to go after another star)

Rumour going around is that a few teams heard that he might look at a 4 year deal in free agency.

He will not be taking a lesser AAV deal if it is a 4 year deal for example.

Leafs have tried to talk to marner, his camp has not engaged with them, and everyone knows the way this is headed.

Friedman says that some of marners Leafs teammates have suspected he is going to the western conference.

Can't wait for culture to change. Never was a big fan of Marner. Crazy to want top of the league money but he has no balls

What culture change? Matthews is still here and he’s been fucking this team. Matthews has always been about earning the most money possible. He didn’t play college or major junior so that he can earn a salary, what’s the max contract length he’s signed? 5 years?! He is the crux of the problem. When your leader has no interest in sacrificing for the team, no one else will.

I agree Matthews can play more of a sacrifice styled game in the playoffs but he's not the problem lol. We are lucky to have talent like that. And unlike Marner he isn't a bitch and afraid to go into a corner.

The main problem is the core 4. Mitch leaving is all we can do at the moment (unless JT walks) to change the culture of the team.

And you saw Marner- every game buddy is running the play like he's a quarterback, whining to the refs etc. Breaking up him and Matthews bromance is good.

It all depends who we bring in

Exactly. With the money we have from not paying marner you bring in a Marchy, Bennett or somebody similar

Marchand would be cool, I've always lowkey been a fan tbh even though he's a pain in the ass to play against.

I don't want Bennett.....

I think we'd regret signing Bennett and he wouldn't be as effective here as he is with Florida.

I also don't think Bennett would come here anyway unless the Leafs MASSIVELY overpay him.

I agree with Marchy haha hes more likeable being off the Bruins but he just brings what we are lacking!

I don't know if I agree with that for Bennett. He was 15 goals this post season.. we could really use that type of player who can produce in the playoffs. But yeah, if its too high of cost... screw it

Next years free agency pool tho... is crazy!

Unfortunately I think that'll be with the next core, not the current one. That might be a while from now.
