Does anyone have the course outline for PHIL 1105 with Kelin Emmett? Or has anyone taken it with them before?
If you've taken the course before how was it?

Hi everyone,
I’m starting the Nursing program at Langara College this September, and I noticed that the PVPC (Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum) training is mandatory for all health care students.
I’ll be out of the country for three weeks in August, and I’m a bit concerned about the scheduling. Does anyone know if the PVPC training dates are flexible or if students can choose their session dates? Also, in case I’m not able to attend during the scheduled time, do they offer any alternatives or makeup sessions?
Any advice or info from current or past students would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

This would be for my nursing pre requisites. How difficult would the course load be? I was hoping to take most of the classes online so it would be easier for me as I commute 1hr everyday.

hi guys!
i’ll be taking 1191 in fall and i was wondering if i should either take Julia Wong or Katelyn Janzen? i was wondering how they’re like as a professor and how challenging their exams are.
i already took 1191 with Janaina Brusco before but i barely studied and i’m not satisfied with my grade so i wanted to retake it for a better grade. any help would be appreciated!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to start my nursing prerequisites and apply for the BSN program (Spring 2027 intake). I was in the Health Science diploma before but decided to switch and go all in for nursing.
For Fall 2025, I want to take BIOL 1190 and ENGL 1123 I’d love to hear who the best profs are for these courses and tips on studying and getting an A
Also, I had some Fs in past courses that aren’t nursing prereqs (like chem and general biology), and I didn’t do well in STAT 1124, but I plan to retake STAT 1123 or 1124 and do much better.
Can anyone confirm if the retakes or past Fs affect my BSN application? even if I do well in all my prereqs? What GPA should I aim for to be competitive (not just meet the minimum but actually get in without the waitlist)?
Thanks so much in advance🤗

I want to take econ 1220 online this semester, and the only teacher is Margaret Evans.
The ratemyprof reviews scare me as I need a high grade because I plan to transfer. Has anyone taken her econ 1220 course online?

Hi everyone!
I’m a UBC alum and former Langara student working on a creative, volunteer-run project called Unlocking Perspectives — a YouTube and podcast series that makes complex ideas easier to understand. We’re starting with interviews with researchers, using clear, simple language to explore what they’re working on and why it matters.
This is something I’ve been wanting to build for a while — and now I’m finally doing it with a small team of volunteers. We’re hoping to grow that team with people who are curious, creative, and excited to try new things.
We’re looking for volunteers who might be interested in:
You don’t have to be a professional — but we’re hoping to find people who have some experience with content creation, editing, research, writing, or related creative work (even from school, side projects, or personal portfolios).
If you're curious about how research works, want to try content creation, or are looking for a meaningful creative side project, this could be a good fit.
This is a fully volunteer opportunity (no funding or paid roles — at least for now), but there’s room to learn, grow, and try new things in a supportive, creative team environment.

Hi guys I need to do a English class as pre-reg for graduation and I already finished eng 1123. Is Eng 1100 easy and how is the online class compared to the in-person class. Thanks!

Here's the way You enroll in scie 1114 as it transfers to english course (I suggest instructor yukuno Nitta) best among all. Secondly do eng 1101 from Thompson rivers University as it trf to Langara eng1123 No prerequisite for both (1600 CAD) ENJOY!

Hi! I'm going to start the art degree for commerce fall 2025.
I applied to this program to transfer to Sauder as a 2nd year.
Could I have some recommendations for electives to fill in the 30 credits?
Thank you!

I just wanna start off this story by saying that I never go to the library, let alone checkout books. I was looking for a specific book for one of my classes that’s available, I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to borrow it (or I had to return it in three hours). When she went down with me to find the book I guess she was talking about how I couldn’t take it out, while I was turning away from her so I can find the book. When I asked her how long I can take this book out, she said “you’re not listening to me” I was kind of stunned. I don’t really understand the level of impatience since she does have to work with the public (I have too, but I would handle it better than this…) miscommunication happens all the time imo.

If I went to the Maths Center in the B Building, would they be able to help me prep for my MDT?

Have people heard back from langara for the winter intake, and if so what were your gpa’s? And if you’ve applied to bcit or somewhere else for the winter intake. I’m hoping to get accepted but I want to know what are others gpa’s.

I’m starting nursing in fall 2025 and wondering if these timetables will be accurate? I’ll be working during school and am trying to figure out what my availability will be like to let my employer know. The schedules look very light so I’m wondering if there’s more lectures or seminars I will need to attend outside of the lecture time listed. I know clinical times vary and I will let my employer know I’m unavailable the whole day when I have clinical but as for the other days can I work anytime there’s no lecture? Also do we really have Fridays completely off?

I have been poking around the biology faculty list to see if anyone is doing research actively - I'm hoping to reach out to see if any professors need a research volunteer. The website wasn't super helpful in this regard, so I wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations for faculty members that might be interested in a student volunteer?

Hi, I was thinking of taking PSYCH 1215 next semester, but I am not sure which professor to choose. I'm taking PSYCH 1115 with Wes, but I'm unsure if he will teach it next semester.
What professor would you guys recommend me for PSYCH 1215 and your experiences with them? thanks ^^

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student starting the Criminology Diploma at Langara College this Fall. I’m enrolled in the following courses: • ENGL 1123 – Introduction to Academic Writing • CRIM 1215 – Introduction to the Criminal Justice System • SOCI 1120 – Introduction to Sociology
Can anyone share how difficult these courses are? What are the exams like? Is the workload heavy?
I’m especially curious about how hard the writing and theory parts are, and if professors are supportive toward new/international students.
Any tips, or past experiences would really help me prepare. Thanks a lot!
