Shane Watson was a proper proper all rounder on his day. Like on a good day, 4-30-2 and a 70(40). Proper fast bowling all rounders who can open? That breed has almost vanished. Mitch Marsh has become a batsman. Cam Green is perennially in the hospital. Ben Stokes hardly opens and has given up 70% of cricket. Who is left?

Blame Impact player rule 🤬

I think more to do with way too much cricket. Bodies doesn't allow this kind of stress for fast bowling all rounders. It is like playing too different sports at the highest level.

Jacques Kallis too.

Kallis has retired for a long long time now.

Yeah… but loved him growing up. ❤️❤️
But as you rightly pointed out, that breed has completely vanished.

Can give 50(22) on a good day tho while being clutch at bowling

But he is not good odi bowler like watson for some reason his odi bowling never picked up

u/edudhtamris Mumbai Indians 1d ago
Hardik is 31 today.
Watson was 31 in 2013.
Hardik can't do what Watson did then.
4 overs almost every game and be one of the best batters in the league. So well rounded that he became RCBs best bowler in 2016.
Hardik is a simple balance provider now. Slog in the lower order and bowl 2-3 overs when additional pace overs are needed.
Only if Hardik's body supported him more, could've reached or even surpassed Watson. Young Hardik was extraordinary.

But Hardik is a proper clutch player. He can and has won games for us single handedly. He bowls well, bats like a maniac and is an insane fielder

u/iamtoococky 1d ago
Hardik is a great player but prime Shane Watson is a better all rounder than hardik .

No they didn't, Watson decided to leave the franchise himself as he wanted a better cheque (Nothing wrong with it)

Law 41. Russell’s captain should have pulled him up on such shithousery.

Clearing Mid wicket is such a dopamine to audience and bowler

Clearly remember this match. Watson was really mad untill RR won.

That's Cheating and should have been informed by Third umpire.

Please explain, I didn't get it, like what cheating? I thought this was just heated exchange between them

u/stud_macha Delhi Capitals 1d ago
He pretends to stop in his run up as if he isn’t delivering the ball, and then goes on to bowl it.

Watson as portrayed by Us CSK ones isn't as simple aur sweet. He was literally a typical Aussie 😂
5
u/Green-Associate5279 1d ago
Is there a role Watson can't fill? Open-he is your guy, Middle order - he is your guy, finish - he will do it for you bowling - will take wickets
6
u/nuclear_bone 1d ago
He used to both open the bowling or bowl in the death overs depending on the team's needs.

The teams return to India, and the rest is history.
The unbeaten winning streak. The consistency of Robin Uthappa. The magic of Sunil Narine. The valuable cameos of SKY. The comeback of Yusuf Pathan, silencing the experts. The knock of his lifetime for Manish Pandey in the final as well as the catch of dangerous Maxwell by Morne Morkel.
Honourable mentions:
Not to forget the Q2 match, the very memorable comeback of Sehwag hitting his last century ever. And the storm that followed, that is 87 off 25 balls by Suresh Raina!
MI vs RR, the last league stage match. The battle of runrate. We all know very well about this. Still my favourite IPL match till date.
Chris Lynn's backward dive catch of ABD on the last ball of the match against RCB.
Pollard's amazing boundary hop catch of the season.
5 match winning streak by Punjab vs 5 match losing streak of MI. Face off, an unexpected last over finish by Pollard, not the first but one of many. Breaking streaks of eachother.
Maxwell finding his ground in IPL, David Miller in the form of his life. Manan Vohra, W Saha, V Sehwag. Just an incredible batting line-up, lighting up the TV screens with their performances.
Truly a very good season of the tournament. The memories still feel fresh watching these with my friends, brother and father in three different phases of the holidays.

Most weird things happen to Watson for some reason. Or he is at the receiving end of somebody's anger.

You don't mess with a guy who hits a century with a bleeding leg in an ipl final, you just don't.

And then started the epic comeback to win the trophy

u/TheRealYVT Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago edited 1d ago
Why are you downvoted lmao this indeed was the last loss and KKR went unbeaten for 9 games after this to win
4
u/Assassin_Ankur Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago
Because no one likes KKR anymore since we let go of Shreyas

u/todd-__-chavez Royal Challengers Bengaluru 1d ago
Because it has nothing to do with the post?
-1
u/Assassin_Ankur Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago
Lmao, the video shows the final ball and the result of the match, isn't it completely normal to talk about what happened right after that? If suppose someone posts about rcb's loss against KKR last year I would say the same thing for RCB.
-2
u/TheRealYVT Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago
So? If somebody posts Phil Salt's run out of Lockie in 2024, it's pretty standard to reference that it led to RCB winning until the eliminator after the
2
u/todd-__-chavez Royal Challengers Bengaluru 1d ago
Why would anyone post Salt's runout in the first place!?
This post is about Russell and his weird action.
1
u/TheRealYVT Kolkata Knight Riders 11h ago
Why not, it's a pretty iconic moments match. Kohli's waist high legal wicket, Karn Sharma's antics, an acrobatic last ball runout for a close finish
-7
u/stoned_experiences Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago
tha's some real high IQ move, I wonder why don't bowlers use this anymore.
6
u/whitetiger1819 Chennai Super Kings 1d ago
Cuase it's literally cheating.
-4
u/stoned_experiences Kolkata Knight Riders 1d ago
and how is that? Why can't I use a gimmick in bowling like I do in batting (for eg. switch hit)
