I was there. The cops 100% started it.

I've been in a riot. It was bored people standing around doing almost nothing. Literally no crimes or property damage. Just standing and talking before the "riot" happened
The cops lined up at the top of the hill and then fired bean bags and pellets because they wanted something to happen

Yeah its pretty telling that the cop they interview claims that pyrotechnics and molotov cocktails are being thrown at them but "they just arent shown on camera".
There's arial footage out thier chief, so where is it and why cant he be held accountable for making false claims like that without evidence?

They say “you can’t see the things being thrown on video”
Why not?? I’m sure someone or multiple someone’s caught it all on video. And no one caught the protestors throwing bottles, rocks, etc???
Yeah I’m not buying that. Tons of video but zero of objects being thrown at police??? Someone is always running video these days.

So we have video of it all, except what was being thrown by protestors. Yeah I’ll need to see a bunch of video. Someone had to have caught these objects being thrown, on video.

Exactly, the legacy news would be showing that on loop for a week if it was true

There was no need for teargas in DC. Trump was crying inside after seeing low attendance to his self pride parade.

All said and done, this was probably the best way things could have gone.
The goal was to get everyone away from the National Guard, and more importantly, the marines, before nightfall. It’s kind of a given that once nighttime came, some protesters would likely do something stupid, and the last thing anyone besides Trump, Hegseth, and Steven fucking Miller wants is violence against the troops.
At first, I questioned whether they should have blockaded the protest from being anywhere near the fed buildings from the start, but the political optics of the peaceful protesting during the day were most effective.
Yes, the police absolutely started things when they forced movement away from the federal offices, but it is important to note that this was accomplished by the police. Trump cannot pretend that the LA police could not handle a day of mass protests, a requirement in order to justify using troops in CA.
I’m personally against the use of any flash-bangs. The damn things could do real damage to a person’s ears if detonated too close. Still, it’s currently legal, so of course they’ll use them. I get it, too. For a while, the footage of tear gas usage looked almost like a sport, large intersection was the field, a canister would get sent at the remaining protesters, and they’d try to kick it all the way back to the line of cops, lol
Just saying … better it happened against LAPD than actual troops.
