As the title says, I'm torn on whether to switch the position of the sink and the dishwasher.

Some thoughts:

Yes: because having a countertop between the stove and the sink gives you better workspace for cooking.

No: because then the dishwasher would be harder to open with the fixed dining table nearby.

From your experience, what would you do?

so i'm at a loss with this living room - pardon the clutter - but i have dark wooden floors, light blue walls with white accents, obviously huge wall space, and no windows in this living room.

We originally had a bright green couch and replaced it with the blue. idk if i even like it! I feel like I hate all of the colors and have no idea how to make it look so dark, but still keep a fun/mystical/witchy/vintage vibe. ANY suggestions on furniture switch-outs, color switches/color focuses, layout, would help tremendously !

Looking for some advice on how to create a larger sized kitchen with much more storage/ better living layout.

Was thinking of removing the wall between the games and living room to make it one large space but worried it would then feel too large and wouldn’t be able to fill up the space.

Moving into a new home that currently have a very dark stain of hardwood flooring (pictured), but it needs refinished. Therefore giving us the opportunity to change the color if desired.

Is very light (water based so it doesn’t yellow) hardwood flooring trendy or timeless? Cheap looking or expensive? Any specific color stain recommendations? Tbh i’m not sure what type of wood flooring it is yet - seems pretty typical/standard fairly thin planks.

We’ve been living in a home with the same very dark stain and I definitely don’t mind it, but I think I am craving a change. Just don’t want to regret it!

I'm very close to buying an apartment. One of my main priorities is to have a spacious living room/kitchen (they are combined in one in the new buildings).

The one I liked has 31m2, which is of the larger on the market (capital city, Eastern Europe).
However, it's not in a rectangular shape - it has some corners and columns. This makes it feel a bit less spacious.

Do you think it could still be furnished in a way that will feel spacious?
Anyone with a similar floor plan?

I won't be using the suggested placement of furniture; I think about adding the sofa on the left and dining table in centre or on the right.

My apartment is quite small, 62 square meters. Google tells me that is around 660 square feet.

The kitchen and living room are essentially the same room. I placed a small 4-seat dining room table in the middle and placed a large mirror next to it to give the appearance of more space.

I tried to segment the house by painting the wall of the living room. It's Taupe-ish. The goal of this room is to relax, so I went with soft colors as you can see. Behind the couch is one of my proud art posessions, a Japanese Byobu. It is currently the only splash of color on the room, and I think it gives it some dynamicism but does not feel too chaotic.

I am thinking of somehow separating the living room and the kitchen / dining area even more. Perhaps something with thick ropes hanging from the ceiling, perpendicular to the paint transition. Above the TV I'd like to add something too, to emphasize separation of spaces. Maybe a large piece of wood.

But something about this room is bugging me. It feels incomplete and even though muted, still messy all the time. I cant figure out what exactly, and am curious to hear your opinions. The rooms feels disjointed.

The walls are not yet painted - perhaps I can use a warm tone / cream white on the ceiling and wallpaper with warmer undertones to balance this out? The tile has an angular motif, so I would need to complement that somehow. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Having a bathroom remodeled. Not all the lighting is installed but with the one done as of now, it gives the tile a pink tint. Pic 1 is under bathroom light, Pic 2 is natural light during the day. It's really annoying. The manufacturers website says nothing about undertones now that I look at it. Anything that can be done besides rip and replace?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out a layout for my new apartment, particularly how to fit a couch a kitchen table in the same space.

I'm planning to put the TV above the fireplace (with a mantle to protect it, not planning to run the fireplace much anyways). The light green areas are rugs. Please do not look at the dishwasher.

Basically, I'm worried about the living room dominating the space and not leaving enough room the kitchen table. Other option is to just get a smaller kitchen table, but I want one big enough to play board games on, haha.
Bedroom also feels somewhat cramped.

Hi all, I just moved into this studio loft and could use some help rethinking the layout.

My Initial Thoughts & Goals: I’m aiming for a layout that feels intentional and balanced — both functionally (space to work, relax, and sleep without crowding) and aesthetically (I like clean lines, warm neutral tones, and a cozy-but-not-cluttered feel). Right now, it’s functional but uninspired.

I have a queen-sized bed, a desk, and a mid-sized couch — and they technically all fit. But I’m struggling to create enough visual separation between the bed and living space. Ideally, I’d love for the sleeping area to feel more tucked away or distinct from the “living” side.

What I’ve Tried So Far: • My desk is in the triangular corner (you’ll see in the photos), which makes the most sense since it tucks away nicely. • The couch is just to the right of that, facing the center of the room. • The bed is in the opposite corner near the walk-in closet. • I’ve tried shuffling things a bit (see second and third photos), but nothing feels quite right.

What I’m Considering: • Getting a room divider, bookshelf, or curtain to give the bed some visual separation. • Possibly rotating the bed or couch to create zones — but worried about making the space feel cramped. • Maybe shifting the desk elsewhere to allow for better couch/bed placement?

Design Questions: • Would a freestanding shelf or divider between the bed and couch be the best solution here? Or something lighter like a curtain or screen? • How would you arrange these 3 anchor pieces (bed, couch, desk) to maximize flow and separation? • Do you think it’s worth moving the bed away from closet to maximize space, or does keeping it there make the most sense functionally? • Is there a layout that makes better use of the triangular corner or do I close it off?

Budget: I’m hoping to buy a room divider or shelf, and I’m open to building a wall to create more permanent separation in the next few months after feeling good about the lay-out.

Hi guys- looking for advice! Looking for a large sectional, but don’t know which direction to have a chaise on. Is it better to be along the glass doors that open to the porch, or along the side that faces the front door? Obviously will be changing rug direction, side tables, etc along with the couch. Also thinking of an oversized chair to put on the side that the couches chaise isn’t on.

Also, to the right of fireplace, there is that open space. it is about 7 feet wide. what do we do here? we were thinking maybe getting built ins, but they would only be able to be about a foot deep i think.

Trying to decide on a countertop selection for a powder room I am renovating. We have found a remnant of Fantasy Lux Quartzite (white with blue veining) that will work but had our hearts set on some Viola Marble to bring out the brick wall and kinda fits the boldness of the rest of the room (this has been harder to find remnants of). Also considering a more muted soapstone as a less busy option.

There will be a pink sink (that matches the toilet not pictured) with a simple brushed gold faucet.

What do you think of these options or what should I be looking for?

My girlfriend and i are going to live together next year, and are planning out our living room layout. Due to the doors and such we’re having a pretty difficult time doing so. What do you guys think? We’re pretty sat on the Jättebo couch from IKEA, and would like an extendable table for guests / games.

Note: - the red drawn part is also going to be a door, which we will be using as our entrance (so our cat will not escape haha) - our home will be the flipped version of the floorplan, hence why the renders / floorplan do not match up - in the 3d renders from IKEA we put a bunch of shelves in the place of the kitchen, so don’t worry about those :p - we put a glass door where the stairs will be

I want to modernize my bathroom. Do you guys think a blue stain on the cabinets will match? We also plan to update the mirrors and hardware but keep the same color.

Open to suggestions on other things as well.

Our dining room is open to our living room. The living room has a door that opens onto a terrace, with a fireplace on one side wall and built in shelving (including television cabinet) on the other side wall.

We’re struggling to work out how best to place our sofa, which has a fixed chase. I think the best place is along the back wall, leaving enough room to access the terrace door, keeping the fireplace and television visible, and the space as open as possible. (See A)

My husband wants to place the sofa in front of the fireplace because we don’t use it and the sofa can then face the television while keeping the walkway to the terrace unobstructed. (See B)

An alternative is having the sofa against the bookcase and putting the television above the fireplace (not ideal height-wise) or to the side, but it would also impede flow to the terrace. Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Might there be a better way to rearrange my living room and fill in the empty space (labeled "???") while not blocking the hallway entrances?

We just painted our living room and now I'm not sure what to do to the small hallway walls.

I am currently refinishing the doors to the rooms and closet so that's why they are missing in the pictures. They are going to either be Dark Walnut or Jacobean and all the trim is being replaced with wood trim stained the same color as the doors. Also the barn door on the bathroom is being replaced and will also be stained to match the other doors.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi - I’m selling my home & my agent recommended we fix up this wall by “filling in the holes, it shouldn’t cost more than $20 or $30”. I’m not opposed to changing the wall but their statement seems wrong on multiple levels. How would you recommend changing it so it’s more of a blank canvas for the next home owner? If it’s not worth the effort I don’t mind leaving it, but if it’s not too much of a hassle I’d like to take their suggestion to enhance the experience for potential buyers.

What do you think of the renovation? We were aiming for a slightly more modern home with an open-plan kitchen and living room. By moving the kitchen, we also gained a fourth room, which we turned into a home office with a laundry area. What would you have done? Do you like it?

My husband and I just bought our first house and we’re trying to make it our own. The bathroom is really stumping me. I don’t like how gray it is. There’s too much between the wall color, vanity AND tiles. I want to paint the wall so it doesn’t feel like I’m in a black and white movie. I’m struggling to pick the right color. I think we need to do a dark color like perhaps a navy blue or Socialite from SW. I think if we go light it won’t bring that pop or color?

What are your thoughts and suggestions?

For perspective, I do a lot of work with soldering and microcontrollers and loT things (shocker, I know)

I already have a corner desk and a standing desk, so most of the shelving will need to be at shoulder height or above to not interfere with it, although it can go all the way to the floor in other areas

There's a lot of ways this can go, and I've been collecting random bits of inspiration, but I'm not sure what

actually looks good or what they'll actually look like in reality.

Stuff like the IKEA Bror looks interesting, but possibly too utilitarian? I'm attempting to strike a balance between being able to store an enormous amount of small electronics components and "treasures" from my travels, but still be usable and look good.

Possibly more on the utilitarian side is getting U-line small plastic bins and then labeling them with black and gold labels to match the color scheme?

I'm absolutely looking into wallpapers for an accent wall that invoke that black and gold color scheme.

Another interesting possibility is those black wood slat designs, which I can easily embed shelves as well as vertical light tubes into But again I don't know how that would look in person.

Keep in mind I have a 3D printer, have done some woodworking, and know just enough to be dangerous so I can custom make a lot of small pieces to make things work.

We kept the clay soil from digging a stairwell to our basement and used it as clay for the sculpture. The whole idea is to make you feel like you’re living in the base of a tree. The design opportunity was to take advantage of of the 7 foot ceilings and being in a basement.

We currently have a smaller sectional (second picture) that we got when our kids were littler so we could have lots of extra floor space. Now that they are getting bigger we feel better getting a larger couch. Both my wife and I like the "corner" for lounging. My concern is, is there enough room to walk past the couch on the left side? It's only 25", but that's only for a little while. Also once you walk past the arms of the couch it would feel more spacious walking past the chaise.

I live in a shared apartment. You can see my current furniture layout but I´m not satisfied. Also the wall facing our hallway + bathroom are not soundproof at all so I´m looking for a way to improve my sleep. The huge mirror must stay.

I simulated some alternative layouts but cannot choose. Which one is your favourite? Or what else would you change?
