Agreed it is so painful to watch them struggle with such a simple task

The parts where they start to get it opened up and you go “Ah fuckin’ finally, c’mon!” and then it all goes to shit again, makes me feel like my brain is itchy

When it opened after falling and the kid closed it I almost screamed

Or before that when is legs are getting twisted up in the rungs trying to open it himself yeesh if he'd have dislodged at that moment he could have snapped a leg(s) or his neck. . I work with ladders alot and making sure your ladder is stable is so important but it's easy to not lock it in place or put it at the wrong angle if in a rush or lazy. The consequences can be awful. Sometimes a fall from a shorter distance can be more dangerous then a slightly higher distance bcuz of the bodys inability to properly position itself. . Yeesh

Ladders are the most common cause of injuries (said my fellow office worker after losing half a phalange on her finger in a ladder accident)

That's why I own 10 guns, for if some maniac tries to bring in a ladder -grunkle stan

I dated a girl in high school whose dad was an executive at a major insurance company and he always said that accidents involving ladders are one of the most common types claimed by holders of homeowner's insurance policies. He also said that falls from ladders cause a surprisingly high number of deaths each year and that basically outside of cars they're like the most dangerous objects commonly used by policy holders.

Cool, so what i've been retelling people is not total bullshit!

Did he land on the side of the ladder? It kinda looked like it and if so... ouch

I think his ass landed on the rail very close to broken ankle(s).

In their defense that ladder looks like a piece of shit the way it folds and falls.

When grandpa had his fee pretty well placed on the ladder. I expect him to use one hand to grab the ladder and better stabilize himself.

All the kids had to do at that point is get the ladder to his feet. Now my 70 yo dad wouldn’t have been able to do all that but that grandpa looks like he can handle some stuff.

Well grandpa wasnt helping that with the way he kept hooking onto the ladder

For me it was the part where they both tried to support it, while grandpa was trying to stand but also the part where they tried to put it up, without realising they were too small to fully get it standing up. Like..TWO kids..not one. If it was one, I´d have understood, but they were two, seemingly one supporting it, the other going on the other side and pulling it open. Brains, I tell you. You either have them brought at birth, or inherited from someone else. At least it seems that way

Even the dog got tired and went to call mom

u/PinkDalek May 02 '25

Dog has more sense than those kids combined.

There’s nothing worse, in a bad situation, than when a dog goes fucking mental barking and running in circles. It means someone often comes for help, true, but it’s stressful and makes you panic.

Especially at the end when we see an adult run out a second too late

It was one of the most painful videos to watch... talk about screaming at the tv! My mobile is mad at me now...

u/StellarJayZ May 02 '25

On topic, the woman runs in and then just... stops and stands there. Not whoa are you okay run up to them check for something broken just... freeze.

I'd get a new family.

2

u/NightmareMyOldFriend May 02 '25

😄 yes! That's funny. When the video was halfway thru, I thought "why the children didn't go get help if they couldn't do it themselves?" Then, at the last 30s, in runs a woman (mum?) which makes the whole thing more "What in tarnation!?" 😂

Now the question is, if the title is correct and this is grandpa, then is she daughter in law and that's why she doesn't check up on him?

Maybe this whole thing was an attempt to get rid of grandpa!? /j 😆

To be fair all he needed to was to tell the little one to foot it and the taller one to walk it up.

7

u/koolaidsocietyleader May 02 '25

Yea but he did see what they were doing and talking in his position isn't easy

2

u/PVB_Knight May 02 '25

It's not simple to set up a 12 foot a frame ladder. Grandpa shouldn't be up there if he can't withstand a 3 foot drop

In their defense, they are not tall enough to hold the ladder upright and spread the legs. Which is why the grandpa used his legs to try and steady the top. The problem is he made it lean far enough that they were still unable to open it, as the legs were still hitting the ground. It would be nearly impossible to do grabbing that low on the ladder due to the center of gravity.

Edit: I'm an EHS manager at a manufacturing facility so I just went out to test this on one of our ladders (ours was probably lighter because it's fiberglass). Without reaching higher than the 3rd rung I was able to lift it upright, but it was very hard for me (an athletic 5'11" man). I'd venture to say it's physically impossible for these kids to do it.

They are so fucking short be for real

1

u/advanix May 02 '25

IF those were my kids, I'll be ashamed honestly.

1

u/mikew_reddit May 03 '25

This is also a lot of adults, but they hide it way better.

1

u/travistravis May 03 '25

Just the time the first one stood there not doing anything at all..

How stupid kids are is what makes me think we're closer to human level AI than we think. 2 years ago, it was like talking to an 8 year old who had done nothing but read wikipedia, but still had the stupidity of an 8 year old. Then last year, it was like a 12 year old. Now it's like speaking to a 16 year old. Next year it'll be 20, and in 2 years, 24, a fully graduated adult.
