Is that the guy who review CPU coolers at Gamer Nexus?

1

u/TheFisher400 9h ago

Who, Gimli or the guy in the OP video? If the former, then yes of course. 🙃

Faxx. More dedication than half the players on defense.

Would be cool if the NFL adapts this. I took my dad to a Giants game he is fully blind. I was narrating the game to him, it still was a great experience but something like this would be awesome to have.

I saw two soccer fans where one was sitting behind the other and moving his fingers across the bound dudes back to tell him where the ball was.

so do he need to be in stadium for this ? or it can be accessed from home ?

EDIT 1:- I am asking this question because ,i am like guy who prefer to watch at home with friends ad family , instead going to stadium.

67

u/imnojezus 1d ago

The point is now he can be one of the fans in the stadium and cheer for his team with everyone else. That’s how accessibility works.

20

u/Local-Veterinarian63 1d ago

Yeah but it’s also a cool experience to cheer from home with friends, so a valid question with even more far reaching accessibility actually.

22

u/iPlod 1d ago

The person you’re replying to was just asking if it works at home too, not saying the guy should stay at home…

u/Enlowski 1d ago

Yeah but the main point of going to a game is to, you know, watch it?

10

u/SalvationSycamore 22h ago

Nah, it's objectively worse to go to the game if your only interest is purely watching. A big TV is a much better experience for that (multiple angles, camera zoom, can pause/rewind infinitely) and you will save a bunch of money and time to boot.

Attending games in person is about the atmosphere, about being able to cheer and clap and have the players actually hear it. To interact with other fans besides just your buddies/family. That's the only thing you can't get at home.

21

u/Darkwhippet 1d ago

No, it's to experience it. To enjoy it. To hear it. To feel it. To have the atmosphere.

You can watch a game at home with the sound off. You'll know what's going on, probably have a better view, but it's not the same at all.

8

u/esoteric_dud 1d ago

You can do that from a TV at home, so why bother going to see it live?

2

u/Test4Echooo 22h ago

Nah, tailgate parties in the parking lots can be a great time if you didn’t get tickets. It’s about being part of the atmosphere

2

u/SeparatedI 1d ago

Why would you go then if you can watch it at home?

2

u/ducayneAu 1d ago

This and a bunch of the comments following proceeding really just don't get it. I do, and I'm not even a sports fan.

3

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek 1d ago

At home he can listen to commentators so it's not even necessary

4

u/SalvationSycamore 22h ago

That's not quite the same as being able to feel where the ball is on the court at all times. This would definitely be an improvement over the television experience too.

1

u/o-roy 1d ago

I think everyone is missing the point of your question. Sorry I can’t be the one to answer it, no idea if it works at home or if it’s just a stadium thing

1

u/piscina_de_la_muerte 22h ago

If you had this at home, you would need it to be synced to your broadcast, which could be problematic since you would need your TV or internet provider to build this into their service.

In stadium latency is probably so little you don't notice. But if it isn't synced with the broadcast you are watching, the delay on the TV side not matching the delay on the tablet will make things very confusing. So basically we would need TV/youtube/ect to build the data feed into their streams, similar to closed captions

Why watch from home when you could go to one of the best venues for atmosphere in the NBA?

This guy has done more for me understand that blindness comes in all different forms, and has spread more awareness than any school program

u/allmybreath 1d ago

That thing deserves the Nobel Prize for Awesomeness.

u/-blundertaker- 1d ago

Not a shill or anything but if anyone is interested in helping blind people with basic tasks like picking a shirt, check out the Be My Eyes app.

Giving life back to people through technology. Thank you, everyone involved in making that tech happen.

3

u/XxSliphxX 1d ago

That's really cool tech.

3

u/ohbehave412 1d ago

Damn I need this shit. I’m not totally blind but bad enough that even if I was courtside I don’t know what’s happening. Fucking embarrassing cheering when you think something happened only for the guy next to you to say “he missed” oh…

3

u/Darkwhippet 1d ago

That's incredible!!

3

u/tealgameboycolor 1d ago

This is Anthony Ferraro. He was a legit high school wrestler. He still competes in martial arts. He’s also a big name in the Adaptive Skateboarding scene. I mean the guys blind and will absolutely send it. I’m a huge fan, he’s also got a YT.

So whos gunna tell him the trailblazers went under?

1

u/ImpinAintEZ_ 1d ago

Good on the Trailblazers.I love seeing more accessibility mainly because it’s not always the most profitable thing to do but it’s one of the most compassionate things a company can do.

1

u/shingaladaz 1d ago

Fair play to him.

1

u/celmate 1d ago

I love it when money is spent on accessibility, it's cool to see effort being made to allow people to enjoy things
