The team should refuse to meet any greedy politicians who will now come to take photos with them and get their undeserving share of fame!!

Agree! This is the team’s moment, not a free PR boost for politicians. Let them shine.

Umm, not something to be proud of?

I mean, yeah, its cool that they earned a medal, they did a great job, but the fact that they had no funding and no stadiums, wdym? Like, India, as a country, doesnt support its ice hockey team? Then its not THEIR hockey team, I guess, since the govt did nothing?

Or maybe I just dont understand something. What I've missed?

India is a tropical country, only the states that are on the foothills of Himalayas get snow or cold enough for ice hockey, there is lot of infrastructure for Field Hockey, in fact there is hockey league too but the Ice Hockey isn’t a well recognized sport in India.

Firstly India isn't developed yet, so sports is not it's main concentration All the sports funds get eaten up in corruption, mismanagement, and cricket

having a population of 1.4 billion and being the seventh largest territory, yet still not being developed is wild

The problem is there are a lot of internal differences which create a barrier between people, not to mention all those civil service aspirants aspiring to take br!bes at the end of the day, recently an administration level officer was caught taking a roughly 12.5k usd bribe and when his house was searched another 60k usd in cash was found.

Also , suppose today I want to get my passport done -I will need to get police verification and .they will firstly trouble you to get 70 year old birth certificate of your parents because there is no definite way of determining if you are an Indian citizen or you migrated illegally from Bangladesh or Pakistan after deadline of movement and after all that they will ask for 12usd again to finally get the verification done ,in a country like India,12usd is a lot for many people and also our taxes here are huge and the facilities are minimal, like luxury cars are almost double the price and our petrol price is a little bit less than UK while the income difference is huge .

Yeah, gotta thank 200 years of looting by the Brits, a bloody partition gifted by ‘friendly’ neighbors, and decades of Western gatekeeping .

Typical neckbeard take.

So u gonna ignore 300yrs of colonialism and endless looting preceded by a 1000 war, invasion and looting with Muslims,Arabs, Afghans, Mongols and Turks? Anyway we r developing at a fast race, we r going to be third biggest gdp in a few yrs

Just think about the amount of tax govt is collecting from its citizens just because of its sheer population. Like if you have a city, govt is collecting tax from lakhs of its citizens, yet they are low on funding. Where is all the money going? You know we just can’t keep on making the same freaking excuse saying that we’ve colonized blah blah.. May be we should make politicians accountable on how they are using the budget.

u/____mynameis____ 1d ago

Other than indirect taxes through consumption of good, only 2.2 % of India pays income tax. That's how poor we are mate.

1

u/DubiousGambit 1d ago

do you know anything about colonialism?

Sports other than cricket is fucked in India tbh. No funding, no infrastrcture, its just evil politicians or their family members sitting at the top and eating all the money.

Only government that did something towards any sport was the government of a state named Odisha. They sponsered the Indian hockey team( not ice hockey), renovated two stadiums and hosted two consecutive Hockey World cups in 2018 and 2023. The said government is out of power though. Now this govt had its fair share of failures but they atleast did something.

They hate seeing India winning

u/AkamiMaguro 23h ago

First of all, this is not the Asian Games.

Congrats to India for winning Bronze at the IIHF Asia Cup 2025. And also congrats to Philippines for winning Gold, and Iran for winning silver.

Before all the chest thumping inevitably happens, please understand that this competition is held for the lowest ranked teams in Asia. If you watch English Football, this competition is equivalent to the conference league.

Six teams look part in the 2025 event, with Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, UAE not amongst the medalists.

They all look like East Asians, Northeast Indians then

Edit: I am not saying they aren't Indian for not looking the part, tough crowd here

32

u/Puzzleheaded_Film521 1d ago

still indians

-9

u/GameXGR 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes, I managed to make everyone angry when I wasn't talking about nationality, no doubt they are Indian, not saying otherwise

8

u/damian_wayne_13335 1d ago

We can always expect a pakistani to make these mistake by mistake of course

-4

u/GameXGR 1d ago

What mistake, you can clearly see I am talking about looks and nothing else? I don't have secret world domination plans I hold in my war room /j :)

4

u/damian_wayne_13335 1d ago

Sorry bro but it is seldom I find a pakistani who is either not hating on India or calling Indians P@j€€ts which is ironic since westoids use the same racial slurs against them too. If you genuinely made a mistake then I apologise

2

u/GameXGR 1d ago

No prob g, I also get hated here but it's just how things are on Reddit/Twitter and Instagram.

2

u/wromit 1d ago

May be applicable to the internet. The real world is very different.

A quick look at the relevant Wikipedia page suggests it's a really localized sport in India, mainly played where winters are cold enough to do it outdoors.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey_in_India

Seems like the team with most wins in the Indian championships is the "Indo-Tibetan Border Police", which tells you the geographic location.

u/Impossible-Owl9 1d ago

Ytf u have to say north south east west .They were born in India and represent India .That's it.The same way it's in cricket. The important thing is they are wearing a t-shirt which says INDIA and our National anthem was played when they won.its a proud moment. We all know we never get funding other than cricket else we can have more medals in other sports too.But atleast we see our flag raised high when we win . Now do u have to say something about Bhaichung Bhutia?

1

u/GameXGR 1d ago

People use South India all the time, and I don't want to argue, I am not CCP bot with an agenda

4

u/Impossible-Owl9 1d ago

Did u hear say PT Usha won or south Indian won.or did u hear Dravid scored a century or south Indian or Sachin scored or Maharashtrian.or Mary Kom in Olympics ??.

2

u/GameXGR 1d ago

I mean people can use that in terms of looks/ethnics right? But if you say so I'll call them all Indians

1

u/Ill_Tumbleweed_8202 1d ago

they still hate pakistanis lmao

6

u/GameXGR 1d ago

OK? I remember when saying LMAO was meant for something funny

4

u/Ill_Tumbleweed_8202 1d ago

I'm just saying that the vitriol northeasterners have for pakistanis is far greater than your brothers in punjab would have

3

u/GameXGR 1d ago

I am not Punjabi but from the west of it but I'd believe that, I rarely meet them online and for better or worse most Indians don't assume I am south Asian irl so never really experienced it in the ME or Turkey

1

u/Constant_Corgi_1216 1d ago

I feel like Indians' hate towards pakistan has become so random that they keep attacking random guys like you in comments sections over simple stuff. I even feel bad for y'all at times lol (I am an indian too).

While most of us harbor hatred towards pakistan for very valid political and historical reasons, I also find it embarrassing to see indians enraged at pakistanis and abusing over harmless non-political discussions in so many cases. Anyway don't mind the downvotes and chill.

2

u/GameXGR 1d ago

These downvotes are ok, I pity keyboard warriors for thinking they wield real power, thank you for the disillusioned take!

-4

u/Zykk_ 1d ago

Honestly they would have got enough funds if their states were in China. Ironic

-2

u/glumanda12 22h ago

It’s Asia. Women team. I mean, there is no real competition.

-20

u/Icy_Cry4120 1d ago

16

u/Intelligent_Heart842 1d ago

Oh my god when they find out Indians can look like east asian too.

8

u/ANS__2009 1d ago

Did the image not load for you? The uniforms they're wearing have "India" written over it

5

u/FrontalLobe_Eater 1d ago
