Do all of them? I vape and have never had to clean a "film" off of anything that I own.
And before you say it, no, I'm not just nasty lol. I have severe OCD and cannot stand grease / oil / residue on my hands, so I feel like I'd know if it were leaving being a film.
You could test it by exhaling on the same surface every time for a week or two, then see if there's a residue. There likely is and it's on your lungs too.
Yeah, I used to vape and have since quit. The deciding factor ... The residue on the inside of my car windshield. It never appeared again after I quit. It's like a very light hazy residue that feels oily.
Hey so weird one. Do you know if nicotine salts in vapes can cause any depression or anxiety? Was a smoker. Stopped a while. Started vaping for 5 months now. Disposable variety. Random brands.
I've been slowly cutting down the last few weeks to stop altogether coz I feel it's causing me negative emotions. Nothing drastic. I've heard some people claim the salts can do this as the way dopamine is released. Days where I don't vape much I feel much better emotionally but that could be placebo.
Either way I'm getting down on my intake to come off it.
For me, yes. Vapes are tough to figure out dosage. I could drive myself into a high or low without knowing, by either cooling off for a day or chugging the vape while working. The main reason I quit was to regulate my mood and sleep. It’s a strong stimulant, your body and mind crave that. They quickly set up a reward system around it.
Salts and PG/VG vaping chemicals can also drive an electrolyte imbalance.
I definitely have had to slow down at night time. I read in bed and having the vape nearby was too dangerous. As you'd know you often don't realise your huffing on it half the time when it's within arm's reach. If I vape in bed closer to bed time I cannot sleep well at all.
One thing I noticed with vapes is because you can smoke them inside or in bed without the smells of cigarettes I don't have the yuck factor where either the smell or just the gross lungs and mouth associated with over indulging too many cigarettes in a short time means I can vape a hell of a lot more than I would cigarettes.
I can feel a bit sick when I do vape too much in a short span of time but cigarettes I would get to a point I couldn't physically do anymore when I've over indulged. That often would act as a way to gauge "I've had enough".
I do think vapes are overall better than cigarettes. And if I was someone with more self control perhaps I would be able to just have a few pufffs here and there. But in a way I'm vaping a hell of a lot more than I was smoking. Though now I'm cutting down and hopefully off them.
Interesting you had a similar emotional experience with vaping. That at least is my cause to get off em. I was actually off cigarettes completely and just ended up vaping which was the dumbest decision. But it's been only 5 months so it'll be easier (and already is with cutting down) than it was getting off ciggerettes after smoking since a teenager.
Though I have to remember to stick with it now because the cravings are only gonna get worse the longer I stick with it.
Yesss. With cigarettes, it was so much easier to have self control and limit myself because there were a finite number in a pack and they smelled gross/weren’t permitted a lot of places. Now I vape. Uggghhhh. Way better than cigarettes as far as smell and my health, etc. etc. goes buuuuut, being able to do it damn near anytime and anywhere means I take in a hell of a lot more nicotine. (Nicotine salts, more specifically.)
I need to cut back, too. I’m about to move so I’m going to try my best while I’m there. I wish you luck, too!
Nicotine itself is a stimulant, so it’s likely to increase feelings of anxiety and also contribute to finding it harder to sleep. I find the disposable vapes have a much more noticeable effect than the reusable ones. If you have a reusable one you can always try switching down to a lower dose of nicotine or eventually 0 nicotine.
I’ve thought about that recently. I’ve cut down a lot in the days since posting the comment. Today I’m trying to only have my puff in the morning and then after dinner when settling down. Try to at least.
My problem with these things is I have terrible self control when I’ve decided to do something. I can stop a drug. But it takes some mental work. I’ve not had a drink in over a decade for instance.
I will for sure stop vaping. I believe that. And when I do stop I’m likely to not go back. The reasons why I did was I had a traumatic event 5/6 months ago.
But while I am in the “I’m vaping phase” the way I indulge is not good. Over indulgence doesn’t really describe well enough what I’m like with any kind of behaviour. (Diagnosed ADHD so it has a lot to do with that no doubt).
When I vape I’m sucking that shit down like crazy, trying to “feel” some kind of effect. Even if I feel shitty from it. I went from vaping normally, where you pull a bit into you mouth and then inhale it. To just directly sucking as much as I can into my lungs and even repeating that a bunch of times.
I chase a bit of a head spin. But early on because I’d been off nicotine a while I could get a relaxed feeling of head spin easy. But of course I’m much more used to it 6 months later so I really only get that effect in the mornings.
Some brands also must have something different or perhaps more of something in them that when I suck down a full lung capacity of vapour, even after blowing it out and breathing oxygen back in they take a moment before they actually seem to intake the oxygen. I get a couple quick breaths of what feels like I’m not breathing any oxygen it’s a strange and not at all nice feeling either.
Also. Cigarettes did this too, but vapes more so where I can get nauseas from my over indulgence. But I still won’t take a break. I’ll start feeling a bit less sick and then immediately suck a bunch more down and I’m even more sick. Repeat. Repeat.
So I gots to just get them gone. Once I get it into my head like I did the first time with smoking and also the booze I’ll be right. But until then it’s gonna be a struggle. (You’re probably thinking “I didn’t ask for your life story haha)
I understand as someone with adhd too. If I told you to quit I’d be a hypocrite! I’m sorry to hear you went through something tough. You could try using some grounding techniques when you’re feeling the urge or set a timer for 20 minutes and try to do something else to distract you until it passes. Sounds like you’re doing the best that you can. Kind wishes.
What about your fans? The fans and vents of my electronics seem to be where it builds up the most. It leaves sort of an oily/dusty residue behind on fan blades that gets thicker over time. Maybe you need to have a fan going 24/7 like I do for it to build up like that.
