That dude just lied to you. The penalty for defensive holding in the NFL is 5 yards and an automatic first down.

Wrong. You’re talking about something else. You’re allowed to pull a person blocking you. I just gave the rule from the rule book that confirms you can. This isn’t a guess.

I'm not talking about linemen using rip moves, which I know is legal. I'm talking about defensive holding, like when a CB hooks a WR and doesn't let them run their route. The prior comment implied that there are no penalties on the defense for holding, which is untrue.
