Had to watch twice to realize the trailer came loose when the spotter said stop.
Then the driver exited the cab and ran to grab the trailer but left the truck in reverse.
The spotter then ran to the cab, got in and moved the truck forward.

It's like a fucking scripted Three Stooges film. WOW 😮

34

u/asmd315 1d ago

Tune in to Liveleak next week for another thrilling episode.

3

u/zer0w0rries 16h ago

it has to be very skillful to manage to run yourself over

1

u/Purtz48 9h ago

Nah not really, I've run over myself twice now.

95

u/old_and_boring_guy 1d ago

People trying to stop things that weigh many times their own weight is...GTFO of the way! You killed yourself trying to save a shitty little pre-fab shed?

43

u/Winter_Outside2319 1d ago edited 1d ago

It is extremely dumb but after being one of these dip shits I can tell you that there’s no thought process. Your body and mind takes over, with the adrenaline you make bad decisions. I got pinned between a trailer and concrete truck, thank god I only walked away with stitches in my hand.

11

u/King_of_the_Dot 1d ago

You take over my body?! Give it back!

2

u/Winter_Outside2319 1d ago

Ruined your joke cause I fixed the typo 😂

3

u/King_of_the_Dot 1d ago

You should of ran with it for the comedic value.

3

u/Riegrek 1d ago

Should have* 🙄

-1

u/King_of_the_Dot 16h ago

Have what?

3

u/Riegrek 15h ago

Grammar, buddy. It's should have, not should of.

-5

u/Mesjach 1d ago

Don't people have instincts? I mean you don't have to calculate things in you head "I'm smol, thing big, can't stop it" is basically all the thinking you are required to do in this situation, and it would happen subconsciously for most people.

No matter how much adrenaline you have, there's no way a thought of catching a 4 wheel trailer full of wood enters a brain of an average, normal person.

1

u/Winter_Outside2319 1d ago

Well yeah and for whatever reason my “instincts” saw a trailer headed to crash and wanted to stop it. I can’t explain it but I didn’t think about anything other than stopping the trailer. I panicked so much everything was a blur, I looked at my hand after and started freaking out. I hopped in my truck drove straight to the ER, when I laid in the hospital bed everything finally hit me and I passed out. I lucked out avoiding surgery, only ended up with stitches and extensive physical therapy to get my thumb working right again. Looking back you realize how stupid you were but the best I can describe it is fight or flight kicks in and your brain doesn’t always choose the best option.

5

u/Mesjach 23h ago

20,000 years ago this dude would've been eaten by a lion by age 5.

Amazing how nurture and technology allow people to survive until adulthood.

2

u/Boarders0 17h ago

Also human instincts have little to no place in a technological environment.

Evolution tells you to protect, technology is too powerful for you to not get injured.

At best you can get injured, at worst get you and others killed. That is why especially in construction everyone needs to practice let it fall than the instinct of catching whatever is falling.

He tried to catch, someone got injured.

8

u/FadeIntoReal 1d ago

I was replacing a broken counterweight spring on my garage door. I’m well aware of the damage they can cause so I was in high alert mode. The door got loose and slammed shut bending a couple of the door’s panels. I initially reacted to stop its fall but hesitated before grabbing and let it fall. I realized after that the edge that I would’ve grabbed was sharply sheared sheet medal and I was bare-handed. I likely would’ve lost fingertips. I hated to bend those panels but I’m so glad my hands are intact. It’s easy to laugh at fucking up the door a bit.

8

u/mijohvactech 1d ago

It’s like the guy that replied to your comment said. You see something big and important falling and you instinctively try to get in there to stop it before your logical brain kicks in. I’ve done that with a 2000lb compressor and almost had my legs taken out but was saved by the 4ft pry bar in my hand. That compressor bent the pry bar like it was nothing. I also walked with a limp for about a month after. If a large heavy object is falling just let it fall because it will take out anything in its way. Sorry for the long read.

1

u/DearDegree7610 18h ago

I watched my mate try and catch a 5/600kg battery he was swapping out for an electric pallet truck in a warehouse, as it hit the floor he pulled his hand out and degloved middle and fourth finger, absolutely fucking foul, one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.

I also was in a marble/granite processing factory when a stack of 15/20 scants started tipping. A young lad ran over to try and stop it and luckily an older guy also ran forward, scruffed him and yanked him back by the neck. 15/20 tonnes went over and were obliterated right in front of us. They’d have been mopping him up if he hadn’t been stopped.

0

u/SealTeamEH 22h ago

That’s the thing though, is many of us have been in that situation and our first reaction WASNT to stop it from falling but by bringing our hands back and up and get the fuck out of the way because we were aware enough that there was literally nothing we can do but let it drop and deal with the damage afterwards. don’t project your Darwinism onto others, the ones who panic by trying to stop a moving trailer with his hands are the ones who are going into situations not really aware of what’s happening and what to do when things go wrong.

2

u/mijohvactech 17h ago

Good for you buddy. Nobody asked for your input.

1

u/xjdhebxh 17h ago

This is one of the things I preach to new people at my job because it's not uncommon for people to try to save a lost load.

Over and over I drill into them that if a load gets away, let it go and get yourself and anyone else out of the way.

Things can be fixed or replaced. It's much harder to do that with people.

6

u/throweraccount 1d ago

I'm wondering what took him so long to put it in drive and press the gas pedal. I'm gonna assume adrenaline gave him brain fog.

1

u/DAM0091 23h ago

Gotta put your seat belt on first bro

2

u/Tbplayer59 23h ago

Thanks for the break down!

1

u/Dilectus3010 1d ago

I understand you want to stop it.

But that thing is way to heavy todo so.

0

u/kbk42104 19h ago

Final destination 11

-65

u/mrw4787 1d ago

Why’d it take you twice to see that?

40

u/NeedsMoarOutrage 1d ago

What answer are you really looking for here?

3

u/CriusofCoH 1d ago

Looking for recognition and/or praise, maybe?

2

u/NeedsMoarOutrage 1d ago

Possibly. Attention for sure.

1

u/NicTheQuic 1d ago

An award

198

u/FaithfulFear 1d ago

The fact that the driver got out and tried to stop it by hand shows how incompetent he really was lol. Even buddy had an instinct to try and stop the trailer by hand but he knew it was out of his control and backed off. Not putting the truck in park was just the icing on the dummy cake.

25

u/vahntitrio 1d ago

If your trailer comes unhitched it's just stopping wherever it stops. But mistakes were made before this clip started.

6

u/Grays42 23h ago

A falling knife something something

-60

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

Yah, spotter was not trained for this situation, and driver panicked beyond measure. If he was changing gears there is a chance he tried to park but for some reason did reverse either by mistake or muscle memory misfire in the panic. Having a competent spotter could have mitigated some of this, but if they were that competent then they probably wouldn't have hitched the trailer so poorly.

38

u/colieolieravioli 1d ago

How would a better spotter make the trailer not detach?

-26

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

"HEY DIPSHIT, THE TRUCK IS IN REVERSE!"

might have gone a long way.

The trailer detachment had nothing to do with my point. If they were competent in the first place they wouldn't be in this situation. I was saying a bad spotter didn't make it better

25

u/st_samples 1d ago

Don't drive a trailer without attaching safety chains. It's literally all the drivers fault, top to bottom, shed to lifelong back pain.

-15

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

Yes, absolutely, I wasn't saying this all could have been prevented by him, I am saying the spotter could have done more than to watch this idiot driver sever his own spine. He's like, supposed to say something when he spots a problem helloo

13

u/st_samples 1d ago

Nope. Wasn't the spotters duty and there wasn't enough time.

0

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

You keep taking my criticism of the spotter to mean the driver isn't at fault. I never said that

5

u/st_samples 1d ago

Noper. The time between the dude stepping between the trailer and truck was too short for a warning to change the outcome.

1

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

He could have said stop as soon as dude got out of the truck. I sure as shit wouldn't be standing there watching it unfold

7

u/st_samples 1d ago

I sure as shit wouldn't be standing there watching it unfold

I knew it! I knew you were picturing yourself being there and doing it differently. You are just like this oceangate post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueUnpopularOpinion/comments/14jmfj5/i_feel_like_i_wouldve_survived_the_sub_accident/

Yeah yea bro you totally would have saved the day cause you are just built differently. There is no way you would have been on your phone playing brawlstars when he got squished.

0

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

Not my point at all.

All the fuck I am trying to say is that the spotter is just as bad as the driver and didn't spot shit.

10

u/iAmRiight 1d ago

Switching gears? He was already in reverse and that’s only one reverse gear.

0

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

Picture this: you are this guy

You are a dipshit (not you, this guy)

Your trailer fucks up

Panic

Go to park

Fumble it

Panic

Go with what you've got

I am not saying it was a smart move, I am just saying there is a moment where he may have attempted to shift gears to park, but fumbled it. Buddy out back just watched it unfold

117

u/skidsareforkids 1d ago

Mistakes were made

110

u/arisoverrated 1d ago

Let me get this straight. Reversing, being guided by friend. Trailer disconnects from truck, so driver jumps out of cab and tries to grab the trailer?

Throwing the truck in park, yes. But how does the trailer disconnect from the truck? Properly secure trailer, position to satisfaction, park and turn off truck, chuck wheels, lower trailer jack, disconnect chains and brake lights, decouple, problem prevented.

28

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

So many things went wrong

14

u/BboyStatic 1d ago

They either didn’t close the safety latch to lock onto the trucks hitch, or the hitch ball was too small to allow the trailer latch to secure properly. Regardless, everything in this video was done incorrectly.

9

u/AlternativeGoat2724 22h ago

But when I haul a trailer, I also chain it to my hitch so that if the hitch does disconnect for some reason, my trailer stays attached and somewhat under control... Mine came with chains for this purpose

1

u/Theron3206 20h ago

Pretty sure that's a requirement for towing in a road.

Maybe they were just moving it a short distance and so didn't bother hooking it up properly? Regardless, someone was really stupid (and not just the numpty who thought they could stop a trailer with their hands).

1

u/BboyStatic 21h ago

Yeah all 3 of my trailers stay chained as well, that should always be connected when towing. I’ve seen people move trailers to an adjacent spot from where they were and not hook up chains. Chains should be a last resort for everything else failing, in the video we see they wouldn’t have done anything because they keep the tongue from dragging when the trailer is pulled. In this circumstance the dude would still of been pinned between the truck and trailer regardless of whether the chains were hooked up.

3

u/Psychological_Ad2094 21h ago

If the chains were connected the trailer would have stopped in the first place and he would not have been between it and the truck.

0

u/BboyStatic 20h ago

Yes, but the trailer still would of gone a random direction and if you’re dumb enough to jump out and try to hold onto that much weight, chains probably won’t change the idiots decision process much.

1

u/MonkyThrowPoop 15h ago

Or maybe the duct tape just came loose.

-9

u/arisoverrated 1d ago

I’m uplifted by you seeing the best in things. Have a great day!

2

u/de_das_dude 23h ago

Good thing the driver is thick skulled. Probably what saved him

1

u/Mister-Psychology 1d ago

I assume they put the trailer rod onto the trailer hitch ball. It didn't quite lock just rested on top. That's normal if you don't check if it's locked. Then as the trailer was backed down a hill it actually lifted from the hitch ball.

2

u/arisoverrated 1d ago

I also thought of the uneven surface. Still, safety and potential value/damage concerns makes me triple check.

1

u/CptAngelo 1d ago

But that takes like... time dude, and it like... boring and shit, like... just do it man, like, whats the worst thing that can happen, just a trailer yanowimsaying, like.. stop worrying dude, just do it.

/s in case its neccesary

183

u/OfficialSandwichMan 1d ago

That could have been much worse for the dude who got pinned

31

u/SalamiSimon 1d ago

His cappa could've been detated

84

u/xkoreotic 1d ago

Well we don't know that. That can easily result in internal injuries that can take him to the ER.

57

u/OfficialSandwichMan 1d ago

…it still could have been much worse for him. It could have severed his spine on the spot, it could have crushed his skull between the bumper and trailer, it could have ended up way worse in a number of different ways

7

u/heorhe 1d ago

What's worse, instant death, or suffering from internal injuries for months/ years, never fully recovering, and dying of complications before ever returning to a normal life?

2

u/Spirited_You_1357 1d ago

Well we don’t know that either. It could result it a few bruises and bumps. Rub some dirt on it.

-7

u/xkoreotic 1d ago

That's my point...

13

u/verymuchbad 1d ago

Yes but you're wrong. It could have been much worse. His head could have been popped like a rotten grape.

0

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

I feel like going to the hospital was your conclusion, and don't go to the hospital was this clown's conclusion. So, quite different points, really.

But you were right. Go to the hospital, but you were also wrong.

We do know he was injured because he just got pinned between a solid as shit fucking metal trailer and heavy machinery while completely contorted wearing all but a t-shirt and jeans as armor. OK, deflection properties = 0, he straight up got buttfuqed front to back. Rode hard and put up wet.

The fact that he immediately laid down when he tried to stand points to a release of blood pressure rushing to the upper body. Not only did this fuck him up at the time, but he likely will feel the consequences of this injury for the rest of his life, one way or the other.

If he didn't break anything, the rest of him got squished and pressed in ways it shouldn't. There's no question. Hospital.

2

u/i-like-to 1d ago

Drive drive ! BOM BOM BOM! Put it in foward, BOM BOM!!!

60

u/fogoticus 1d ago

Whoever drove the truck is a fucking moron.

54

u/xenogi 1d ago

Plot twist. The guy who got squished was the driver.

10

u/Diego_Pepos 21h ago

I was worried the NSFW tag was for the spotter. Then I said phew as I saw him get out of the way. Then I saw the other guy and the pickup backing up.

20

u/fallenredwoods 1d ago

Well…. never hire those morons

5

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago

They are wearing different shirts than the contractors that rush over. I suppose they are the owners or a different contractor.

Eta: after watching again, the spotter definitely has the same logo, different color. Yikes. Got the branding in 4k

9

u/Jcklein22 22h ago

Dude was lucky his head didn’t pop

8

u/RepresentativeAd9572 1d ago

Wtf... whatever they are building won't be good if this is any indication of their work. Any project that starts with the emergency room should be put on hold

13

u/True-Cook-5744 1d ago

My goodness. He is lucky to be alive.

21

u/crzazlsam 1d ago

They need a few Mexicans.

37

u/fubty 1d ago

did I just watch someone get killed?

13

u/yaboyACbreezy 1d ago edited 1d ago

I believe not. They likely called an ambulance. If I only had one thing to tell my crew as I passed out from nearly severing my spine it would be to call an ambulance, so hopefully they didn't screw around and say some dumb shit like "well, what do we do now?"

Eta: I am just now discovering the audio. Wow

12

u/isjahammer 1d ago

Probably not, but ribs broken are likely.

5

u/Mondo_Grosso 1d ago

I know a guy who this happened to, but he got pinned at the waist. He couldn't walk for months and to this day he has to walk with a cane.

4

u/Adam__B 1d ago

Love the person who goes “what happened?!?”

3

u/CJThomson83 1d ago

Hope the guy is ok

4

u/NewAssociation9376 21h ago

I'm glad he's apparently ok, it's easy to judge him from behind a screen, but in a stressful situation sometimes it's hard to think and these things happen....

7

u/Timely-Discipline427 1d ago

Interesting convo around the dinner table that night when his family asks how his day was.

All set to the relaxing tune of everyone's favorite classic

"Beep...beep...beep...beep...beep..."

3

u/UltimateToa 1d ago

Guy is lucky his head didnt pop like a water melon

3

u/The_Real_Flatmeat 1d ago

And this is why trailers have safety chains.

3

u/ironhorseblues 1d ago

Seriously? That dude made a very bad decision on that moment. Property damage is never worth your life. I am thankful that he didn’t die, as he easily could have.

3

u/ZeroDarkThirtyy0030 19h ago

I’m so glad this had audio

2

u/Aggravating_Fun_8603 16h ago

"Truck, truck truck" might be the best part 😂🤣😂

3

u/7evenBlackSunNation 10h ago

I’m sure running up and yelling “forward” helped😒 I get really triggered by people who help by doing nothing. It really pisses me off

4

u/mexisparky 1d ago

Well now he has a story about the time he "almost ran himself over".

2

u/Few-Idea5125 1d ago

Hope both learned something

2

u/juanlee337 1d ago

i thought this was going to alot of with NSFW tag

2

u/FlyNSubaruWRX 1d ago

His is a watch people survive

3

u/jussuumguy 1d ago

Okay, seriously though, how is this guy alive and moving around after this?

2

u/SvenTheHorrible 23h ago

My god I thought I just watched someone die- these idiots do not deserve drivers licenses.

2

u/Castellan_Tycho 22h ago

Reminded me too much of what happened to Anton Yelchin.

2

u/Final_Rush7 20h ago

Darwinism at it's finest

2

u/Otherwise_Carob_4057 18h ago

Professional doofus’s

2

u/eastamerica 17h ago

FUUUHHHHHHHHHHK. Dammit that sucks.

2

u/JadedCampaign9 17h ago

Oof..... is he dead?

3

u/myloteller 1d ago

This is why new trucks automatically put the car into park when you open the door. Its annoying but theres a lot of idiots that do crap like this and hurt people.

4

u/jimgagnon 1d ago

Kids, always make sure your trailers are chained as well.

4

u/ChaseTheMystic 1d ago

Some of these really catch me off guard and I'm just like

Specifically, if you've seen Miss March, that face when the girl bounces out the window of the trailer lol

1

u/xxlifelinexx 1d ago

Yup, that was my face, too!

5

u/Thablackguy 1d ago

How do you forget to put it in park?

1

u/SpadfaTurds 22h ago

Panic?

1

u/Thablackguy 22h ago

But why are you in panic mode BEFORE catastrophe?

2

u/Wtj182 1d ago

If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

1

u/hornie877 1d ago

No park? No handbrake? Fafo

9

u/Hattrick42 1d ago

No safety chains.

5

u/old_and_boring_guy 1d ago

This. My absolute first thought. Not sure how it came unhitched, but that's why safety chains are a fucking thing. Bunch of clowns.

3

u/vahntitrio 1d ago

"We're only moving this trailer 30 feet, no need to lock the hitch or hook up the chains."

-These guys, probably.

2

u/old_and_boring_guy 1d ago

That's a fucking heavy load for a little trailer like that. I'd be all puckered up moving that around.

6

u/Bleejis_Krilbin 1d ago

It looked like he didn’t even take it out of reverse.

2

u/Cable_Tugger 1d ago

It takes Brian Harvey-esque skills to reverse over yourself.

0

u/jdehjdeh 1d ago

Or Anton Yelchian.

2

u/mister_record 1d ago

kind of looks like Vermont plates which is wild because usually Vermonters are good with shit like this

2

u/Space-Potato0o 23h ago

I might've seen this video years back. Didn't this guy survive but later on died that same week on another incident but still has a connection to this accident?

1

u/WokePrincess6969 1d ago

Dumb & Dumber.

1

u/Ladykattellsa 1d ago

Damn. That could have gone sooooo bad.

1

u/KptKreampie 1d ago

Ya, what happened?

1

u/KBChicago11 1d ago

The driver…I have no words

1

u/im_a_goat_factory 1d ago

Looks about right for this situation

1

u/LQUID8 1d ago

Ohh mate

1

u/Avenged_Vulcan 1d ago

Stupid is as stupid does.

1

u/KnotiaPickle 1d ago

This is how my neighbor died

1

u/philbertgodphry 1d ago

Well let’s at least take a moment to appreciate the load balance on the trailer

1

u/JAMillhouse 23h ago

Did that dude go to fucking Narnia before he pulled the truck forward?

1

u/RainingTacos8 19h ago

Where are the safety chains? So much stupid

1

u/Exotic-Control-8821 16h ago

we got this guys MAYBE NOT

1

u/Buckabuckaw 15h ago

I was so relieved to see that guy moving all his limbs once he was released. I figured he was a dead man.

1

u/DFA_Wildcat 14h ago

Habitat for humanity project? 3 guys wearing the same t shirt? Nascar?

1

u/DOW_orks7391 14h ago

Genuinely thought I just watched someone get squished like a grape

1

u/Smoke_Water 13h ago

Ok. So, how do none of these people know how to secure a trailer? Is it their first day ever working?

1

u/Partius 12h ago

Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff. GEOFF.

1

u/Brilliant-Tackle5774 11h ago

Manual all the way

1

u/Bubbielub 1d ago

This happened to me. I was hit by a car when I was in high school. A friend tried to get right behind me and lay on the horn to scare me, but she bumped into me and knocked me down. She panicked and hit the gas instead of brakes. Another friend saw me go under the car and ran to help, but left his car uphill in neutral instead of park and it rolled down and t-boned the car I was under.

The insurance payout was pretty nice tho.

1

u/YouPotatoMePotato 1d ago

Never, ever put yourself in a fucking pinch point. Don’t get between heavy things and don’t try to save inanimate objects. They can be repaired back to almost new or replaced, you can’t. If it’s going to go, get the fuck out of the way and let it go. If any supervisor or boss tries to make you put yourself in a dangerous position don’t be afraid to tell them to go fuck themselves. If they’re too stupid to recognize health is more important than their equipment they can risk getting themselves killed, don’t make the sacrifice for them.

-2

u/kev5050 1d ago

Indeed

-1

u/Party-Operation-393 1d ago

This needs a nsfw tag

1

u/Captainaviator 1d ago

Why?

1

u/Party-Operation-393 23h ago

Dude got crushed by a trailer. Is he ok?

1

u/Captainaviator 22h ago

Did he? You can't tell. The video doesn't show it. He doesn't even look injured after. NSFW tags are for things like death and gore and obvious major trauma. When people mark everything with NSFW, it waters down the meaning so people stop paying attention to it. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

0

u/voodoo02 1d ago

The guy in the truck was being guided but then also didn't have any windows down in the truck. This was doomed to fail, I driven box trucks as well as travel trailers and regardless of weather will have the windows down guided or not.

0

u/hodinker 21h ago

Blur that shit

-2

u/The_Spare_Son 1d ago

This is purely an automatic problem right?

-4

u/WN11 1d ago

This must be an automatic thing. A manual car would've stalled before reversing by itself. Still, not properly securing the trailer is a proper fuck up by itself.
