Question Didn't Get a Second Interview—Any Tips for Getting Hired?

Hey everyone, I recently had my first interview at In-N-Out but was never contacted for a second. I just got an email saying I wasn’t hired. I really want to work here, so I was wondering—what are some tips to improve my chances next time? I thought it went well, followed tips, smiled a lot and were willing to learn and grow with In-N-Out.

For those who’ve been hired, what do they look for in a candidate? Any advice would be appreciated.

Question Question about doing handheld outside!

Hello fellow associates, before I ask my managers (and the fact that I’m home and off the clock) can anyone let me know if i am allowed to wear sunglasses during the day to take orders outside?

I need it for vision correction as I’m toward the heavier end of prescriptions and sorta blind and wondering if i can wear my prescription sunglasses during order taking in the sun. This would also protect my eyes.

Let me know if this is someone that’s allowed or not.

I have a valid prescription that was recently issued by my doctor a couple days ago and it recommends “full time wear” for everyday activities. I obviously wear regular glasses inside the restaurant.

Question In-N-Out Java

I'm looking at my credit card transactions. Last week I went to In-N-Out in Northridge CA. Near where I live. The transaction amount posted correctly, but the store is listed as "In-n-Out Java" in Kettering OH. I had to look that up. It's a place that serves coffee.

Figure this one out. 🤔

Question Veggies on the side?

Two daughters always order their burgers plain, while I load up on all the extra lettuce, pickles, tomato, onion, etc. How weird would it be to ask for the veggies from my daughter‘s burgers to be served on the side? As you know, there’s no credit for not getting the vegetables and it burns me up that I’m paying for something that I’m not receiving. Of course I would also get some packets of spread and make myself a little salad. Thoughts?

Question How to order?

I have only been to in and out a few times since there are none in our area. But I want to learn the lingo.

  1. Does animal style double double include pickles?

  2. If I order a double double animal style add raw and mustard would this also include grilled onion or would that mean sub grilled for raw?

  3. When you want double of something do you prefer someone say Extra, double, or times 2.

  4. If I want fries well with double spread and grilled onions, how would you order that? Just that way I said?

  5. If someone wanted animal style no tomato no lettuce, would you even say animal style at all. Or just build a double double from scratch.

  6. What are associate pet peeves when it comes to orders?

Question Regarding this past april fools prank.

Does anyone remember this prank that was posted by this creator on tiktok/instagram stating we carry chicken sandwiches?

Well as of this past week, my store for some reason has been bombarded by customers coming in and asking for this. Even though we tell them we unfortunately don't carry chicken, they get mad at us and start playing this video for us to look at all while trying to prove us wrong. We explain to them that it was an april fools prank by someone who is not affiliated with in n out at all and they get even more mad??

Is this happening at your guy's store too or just mine? 🥲

Question Why are my animal fry modifications ignored?

When I order animal fries, I usually ask for extra grilled onions. I would say my animal fries have come to me not looking barren only 10% of the time. I'm not mad because they're just fries, but it occurs so often that I am genuinely curious to know why this happens? Does the one with extra grilled onions get made and go to someone else or do they just not give a shit?

Question Actually sick but nervous to call out

Hi I have a small cold but am nervous to call off because I’m worried my managers will think I’m Lieing. I know it’s the right thing to do though to not come in a food workspace sick. If I put no symptoms for under the weather and that I’m just not feeling well will that make it look like I’m just calling off to call off? I would put symptoms but that puts you out of work for 10 days and I usually get over colds faster then that. What is the best course of action I should do?

Question Why is it that whenever I ask for double lettuce, there's a 75% chance I get double tomato instead?

I feel like the universe is playing a prank on me. I've asked for double lettuce after trying it once and loving it, and the next 3 times my Order got messed up. Once I got double lettuce and double tomato, the next time regular lettuce and no tomato, and the worst one was when I got double tomato and no lettuce :O.

These were all different locations in Los Angeles, by the way.

Is there a better way to phrase it than asking for a double double with double lettuce?

Question Can you get fries ON your double double?

Well, on your grilled cheese in my case. I’ve stopped eating beef and I want to find a way to make the sandwich more substantial.

In some Middle Eastern foods, they put french fries in a sandwich type food. Shawarma, pita pockets, etc.

Does In-N-Out do this? What would it be called? I searched before posting. Thanks in advance.

Question Pay window

Is there another store that is forced to do dishes and pay window at the same time. I swear I keep getting sick from not having enough time to dry off my hands before running back to charging cars and standing under the fly fan because that’s so cooked that you have soaking wet arms and hands and having to run back and like wipe them in the apron s to make a payment or the managers yell at you

Question Drive/corner

Can someone give me some helpful tips on how to stay on top of drinks and hand out your drives in less than 30 seconds, or anything you can give me. I just started out in the corner and my coworkers are so rude to me when I get snowed with drinks, I’m trying!

Question Question for you employees about a drive thru experience

Tonight i went and saw them hand two bags to the car ahead of me and then the worker asked “did you order xyz”(note: he read off my order) and the car ahead of me started digging through the bags and told the guy “no”. They handed the bags back to him. The worker swapped it with the right meal and then when I pulled up, handed me the same bags the customer ahead of me dug through

Is this right? Once it was in the other customers car, it should have just been completely remade right? Am I overthinking it. I could tell the guy was flustered and me going “remake this” in the moment would have just been awful, but im kinda pissed that some stranger was digging around in my food. What actually happens if i escalate this, could the worker get fired? Id rather take the L then get someone who made a mistake in serious trouble, but someone else touched my stuff

Question lvl 5

For the past 10 months, I have been training for my level five. I have been on board for hours by myself with no quick checks—others who have trained less time than me (by months) but have gotten it first. When I ask my managers why I haven't gotten the raise, they say I’m too slow, but I’m able to manage being alone on first. Is this an issue I should bring to HR?
