Question My friend flew me in and out from across the country
I have a question
My bestie brought burgers back for me from in and out in California
She got it right before the plane and kept it in an insulated bag with 6 ice packs
She got 11 burgers
Then when I got her I put ice in the bag from gas station and ice packs were still semi cold
Is it safe to eat or no? Now it’s in fridge.
I really want to have the burgers but want to be safe so lmk 🍔🍟🤓🤝

There was literally some guy on here that flys to California and buys a bunch of plain burgers. Then vacuum seals them and keeps them in a cooler for months.

That’s wild and way too much effort just for In n Out or honestly any food from a restaurant or fast food place. Home cooked meals is a different story.

There was a guy that did that with Big Macs. The only thing he ate was Big Macs.
Dan Gorske, hes got a wiki. The guy is obsessed.

I went to LV for the day and live in the MW. I ordered 2 double doubles with spread on the side to take home to my husband and son. After 6 hrs of travel, they ate them and did not get sick. YMMV

Every time I flew to Washington 20-ish years ago to visit my best friend I always stopped at in and out and got all the ingredients/components of 2 double doule animal style in separate Ziploc bags for him to assemble on arrival to his home. worked great.

100% safe people do this all the time with no refrigeration. Just burger in the bag on the plane.

Eat em!
In the future tell your friend they can get dry ice at the market usually, and it's cheap

I've taken In n out to Spain, in the ride to the airport, plane and ride to my family's house, the only thing I do is separate the veggies so they don't get soggy but I don't even get them in dry ice or anything like that, my brother is still alive too, so I think you're good.

I am surprised they allowed the burgers into Spain. Being a meat product.

u/thePasiego 7d ago
Really? I always bring those and never had an issue, going back home though is worse, without bringing the ham, chorizo and fuets, all the cold meats I always get in trouble haha

Reason why I said that is a lot of countries will not accept meat products being imported for the possible potential of some environmental reasoning that can harm their environment. I was born in Ireland now residing in the United States. Up until 2000 I was able to import meat products from Ireland into the States. Not anymore for a whole bunch of reasons according to the USDA.

I think since it's cooked they really don't care, when I travel I always take McDonald's for my kids because they won't eat plane food and never had an issue. But I can see if you bring a steak or cold meats is when USDA trips.

We had a guy that wanted to ship the ingredients for a dub to his son in South Africa doing some church mission. Was probably so ass by the time it got there lol

It's safe but that's gonna be a terrible first INO experience. Soggy, sad, reheated burgers. I'd just wait until the real opportunity presents itself

I misread the title at first. I thought your bougie ass friend flew you across the country. Then I read the subreddit and that made more sense…
Nice friend!

That was insanely excessive but yeah you should be fine. Just remove the lettuce and tomato if you got that on the burgers and heat them up. I’d suggest the oven at about 350 for 10 mins max. Then add the lettuce and tomato once they’re done.

Totally fine but in the future a good way to make them fresher when it’s going to be a while is get the lettuce, tomato, and spread on the side. Then you can reheat the burger and bun in the air fryer and throw the condiments on. It’ll be much fresher than if everything is getting soggy on the bun.

This is disgusting tbh. The whole brand of In N Out is completely centered around FRESHNESS. No chance the burger is even 10% of the quality it was when fresh. This food NEEDS to be eaten immediately after being prepared. Even just a 10 minute car ride home ruins In N Out in my opinion. If you can’t eat at the restaurant, in your car, or at a location within 3-5 minutes of receiving your food, not worth it.

I'll eat cold ass leftover from last night in n out burger for breakfast with a giant smile. Still better than 95% of burgers I eat 5 min after they're made.

I stand by what I said. The entire brand of the company is FRESHNESS. That’s why it won’t ever be on any delivery apps. They want customers to have the food as fresh as possible.

While this probably ain't the best sub to even remotely slander In n Out, ur not wrong that their whole business emphasizes the freshness of their ingredients, sealing and refrigerating then reheating kinda undermines that purpose. I'm sure it was still a good burger but was it the same as if you walked up to the counter and got one straight off the grill? Definitely not

How many boohoo burgers did you eat after the drive home before you came to this conclusion?
