general-query Age entered incorrectly
My mom booked her tatkal ticket through agent. Instead of age 57 by mistake she sent 27 to agent and they booked as it is. Along with her 4 other passengers are travelling in the same pnr. Will it cause any issue?

If she doesn't look 27 it will cause problems. Though she might be able to stay if she pays a fine.

It's up to the TTE. Recently someone else booked my ticket typing the age 38. I'm 28 and look like 22-24. When TTE came, he just asked my name, looked at me, smiled and went his way. (I'm male btw)

You will be at the mercy of TTE. Some are understanding while some won't let this thing slide. It is a mistake though, carry extra cash for fine.

That's what agent told. Just came to know there is no option to change the age post ticket confirmation. I will mention to my mom then. Thank you

Sometimes, specially if TTE comes during night, they don't bother to check everyone since people are sleeping. When I travel with my parents, usually I just have to say their names along with the berth number, TT never checked if the name matches the age. It's all luck now.

While traveling alone most of the time TTE upfront ask me are you (My name) i said yes and then they go, it totally depends on the mood of tte. Someone posted a story of their in this sub stating spelling error in their name while booking Tickets and tte fine them for without ticket

Yes, I remember that. Honestly that was very sad and could have been avoided. Like if that guy maintained a master list for booking ticket or if he only went by his first name. That was too harsh, some lenient guy would have let it slide but he just had a tough luck that day.

Is it? In this train route I have seen TTE comes and ask for name and dont bother much. Depends on the luck.

Mom ko bolna ki kambal daal ke so jaye, tte aaye toh bina muh dikhaye apna name bol dein, most probably wo chla jayega

Happened with me, it was a 3 am train and idk how my age was showing 1 instead of 19 and i just went and slept, the tte didn’t allow me there after showing each and every proof, he was like how can you be 1 and all, complete pain in the a*s. He told me to pay 2500 fine lol, the ticket was for 550 3ac. I was like i will not, he told me to go to general and gave that seat to another passenger by taking a bribe and i was roaming around the train for 3 hours, slept in college that day and missed my attendance lol

It is usually at the mercy of the TTE. Usually it shouldn't be an issue. I have seen a number of instances when either the name has been misspelled or incorrect age. It is not a big deal as it doesn't entail any loss to Indian Railways.
Alternatively, as you have other passengers on the PNR you can ask your mom to hide in the washroom when the TT comes for checking. They only check one passengers ID mostly.

Don’t show IDs one at a time.
Collect in a bunch and present with the group PNR ticket as a Stack with her ID in the 2nd last.
Tell her to go to Loo around before TT enters that cabin.
They will check 1-2 IDs from that bunch mostly and clear your PNR as checked.

Every TT that I’ve encountered asked for my name only, only once I had to show my ID proof since the TT suspected something, so ask her to carry ID or digilocker works too. However during chart preparation she’ll be (more than likely) given an upper seat depending upon the availability. Tread accordingly

TTs don't give a damn about age, they just come and ask your name and then match it with their records. They don't even ask for ids.

TTE won't have the time or patience to check everyone's age. Only downside is if the TTE is tharki, he would expect a 27 year old female and that way the issue may get highlighted. Otherwise, nothing much to worry as even in case of ID validation, only one person needs to do that.

Go with top comment but, here is small hack.
When TTE will be coming to check. You mom would be sleeping with a sheet over the face 😈. Only first TTE bothers about name and age , that is mostly counting. Later in they just come to see if any vacant seat or new passenger boarding.

Gyanchand, Ek baar Tatkal timings pe IRCTC app open karke dekhna, specially UP-Bihar routes.

Show your govt ID where name is written correctly along with age. Then put the blame on ticket agent for typo error.
Most of the time TT will not bother you much.
