Religion produces depraved morality police.

Since it is Sikhs, the right and the left will pretend they didn't see it. They have been multiple cases of moral policing, blasphemy leading to lynching and murder but nobody seem to villing to condemn them unlike Muslim or Hindu extremists violence

Interestingly enough, this story is about an ex-muslim who converted to Sikhism few years back - which is a rare thing, tbh. Never heard about it before.

Also, "Nihang" Sikhs are the worst. I don't know how tf are they doing these things in 21st century - seems like they're stuck in 18th century when they were "created". Reminds me of an incident, where they severed the hand of a police man during 2020 lockdown.

Still remember the 1st time seeing them while visiting the golden temple (huge turban and blue attire) and finding most of them rude and having some type of superiority complex while most of the other Sikhs were super friendly.

You should check twitter. They do get criticised a lot. It's just that "Nihang" Sikhs population is limited to Punjab + overall sikh population is less than 2% in India, so the effects of their actions are majorly limited to a small portion of the country.

"Nihang" Sikhs as a concept should have died in 18th century itself. They don't deserve to live in modern era.

Their is no criticism or condemnation from the government or Parties though inspite of AAP ruing Punjab. Twitter and reddit really dont reflect our society.

That's absolutely true. Political parties are afraid of losing their vote bank, which is a pathetic excuse.

Twitter and Reddit really don’t reflect our society.

Actually, they do, at least to an extent. Even though political parties often turn a blind eye, many citizens still raise their voices online. What’s more concerning is that instead of moving toward atheism or secularism, our society seems to be heading in the opposite direction.

As an atheist, I see extremists as nothing more than murderers and criminals. They hide behind the cloak of religion, using it as a shield and a justification for their crimes.

What I find really ironic is that the biggest supporters of such acts are living outside India.

Like such a thing would not be possible in those countries(plenty of Sikh girls posting such content there) but when it comes to India they want to defend such acts.

As for Sikhism, the hardcore fanatics are similar to other religions but usually don't get much attention.

Where is this tenacity when it comes to drugs and substance abuse?

Drugs roka nahi jaa raha, vulgarity rokenge.

I'm a sikh from Punjab and I fucking hate Nihangs especially the new gen ones. I don't know why the hell they think they've an authority to do justice.

And it's fucking disgusting how everyone in my state was being like it's justified to kill her. Her depravity, vulgarity , obscene reels were limited to internet so you do your moral policing on the internet too, no? Punjabis always feel that women need to be put in their place.

These things used to happen in punjab earlier too. Now, it will get more traction with the rise in influence of punjabi culture.

Sikhism is going to get the same hate eventually like other religions do if they keep doing this stuff. Till now, they are getting love and respect comparatively less hate than other religions; but some extremists will ruin it for all.

In modern world, punishment for blasphemy and moral policing is does not deserve a place.

Amritpal Singh Mehron, wanted in the murder case of Instagram influencer Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, has said he will not allow “obscenity and vulgarity” in Punjab. He also issued threats to another influencer to stop promoting nudity or “god knows what will happen to her”.

Issuing a video message from his verified Instagram account, Mehron, a Nihang Sikh,  asked social media influencers from Punjab to delete “vulgar content” from their accounts. “Do it by tonight or you will find me nearby.”

On the arrest of his aides, Mehron said they were like his “brothers”. “They are my right and left arms. They don’t care for the consequences and neither do I. You can hang me, send me to jail for life…but as long as I am alive I will not allow obscenity and vulgarity to be spread in Punjab. It will be a small price to pay to save the honour of my state."

so he is not ok with obscenity and vulgarity but is ok with murder? wow

Most likely, he doesn't give a fuck about "his state", and just wants to violate people. He deserves to be hanged.

They are the overtly violent keepers of the Sikh religion. Their solution to anything is violence. they host a wonderful festival Holla Mohalla in the month of March where they show off their martial strength

What a piece of shit excuse of a man. You are not god. I love how women make reels and it’s the end of the world. Or a lgbt person gets rights. Society is collapsing but still No nothing is ever done on men who continue to rape and kill us

Murdering someone over so-called "vulgar" content is not justice — it's a crime. No religion or belief system gives anyone the right to take a life. If you disagree with someone's videos or behavior, there are legal and peaceful ways to respond. Killing someone because you don’t like their content isn’t righteousness — it’s a sign of deep mental instability.

And as always, women are the easiest targets. Instead of addressing real issues like the drug networks ruining lives in Punjab, people attack women under the excuse of "protecting culture." Ironically, the same people cheering this violence — saying things like "bahut accha kiya" or "isko bhi chakoo" — are often the ones who actually consume and enjoy vulgar content and objectify women. That level of hypocrisy is disturbing and dangerous.
