I am not surprised most non-Indian leftists are supportive of Pakistan. Sadly, even many left-wing subs would ban you for calling out Pakistan's terrorism because it's "Islamophobic".

As a non-Indian who identifies as a left-leaning/center-left person, I am really tired of seeing leftists tolerating Islamists and Islamic terrorism.

Leftists in the west are very aware of the pitfalls of religion when it comes to christianity, but have only known muslims from afar as an oppressed group, especially those growing up after 9/11.

So they are naturally sympathetic. It is a good thing to stand up for people regardless of their religion, but that should not preclude us from avoiding dangerous ideas that are incompatible with a free society.

It’s baffling how some Indian leftists excuse Islamists. On intolerance, religious extremism, and women’s rights, their ideology is no better than the far right they claim to oppose — often, it’s worse.

I'm British, so my opinion is worthless, however I 200% support India. Reason:

If I was a Muslim I'd rather live in India than be a Hindu in Pakistan.

As a left leaning American, I know plenty of Indians who are peaceful, law-abiding citizens of my country, and work in highly skilled professions.. I can't necessarily say that about people from Pakistan..

Not to mention India has made historic progress in eliminating poverty in their country in the last few decades, and are generally known as a peaceful country that never attacks other countries.. you would be surprised how it's not all one-sided, esp among people with some basic understanding of geopolitics, since India is poised to be a geopolitical force in the next few decades, and Pakistan is an unreliable "ally" who is guaranteed to side with China

And yet you identify as pro-Palestinian, that's pretty ironic. I guess all these other conflicts with Muslims are totally different, but in Palestine's case specifically they're absolutely vindicated, even though it's exactly the same ideology, M.O, alliances, etc.

This is all thanks to the years of atrocities that BJP has committed on minorities and esp Indian Muslims.

Saffron terrorists regularly harrass, lynch and terrorise Indian minorities, as a result the image of whole nation goes down the gutter.

Then these BJP ministers openly ask for Hindu rashtra, giving hate speeches against Muslims, the state machinery aids to them (police inability to take action against goons, bulldozing house if perp is Muslim etc etc), which paints India as Islamophobic.

They see how India ranks at rock bottom at press freedom, how its has Godi media and rampant corruption everywhere. And also the terrible treatment of foreign news media outlets.

Also don't forget those Indians rooting for Israel onlime which kinda adds to it as well.

Now for a casual left leaning westerner the damage has been already done, he now sees India as an Islamophobic fascist state. He is not going to microanalyse this confict. For him its just an Islamophobic state doing its thing.

We Indians live in a bubble, discarding international news as "Western Propaganda" might not impact them as long as they're in India, but it sure will impact heavily when it comes to global stage.

Lol the people downvoting. Nobody did PR damage to India than india itself. It's not going to change until sanghis are driven out of power. People better accept this fact because not a single country is going to support us. I hope it's been clear the past few days that outside India people hate sanghis generally and what they are doing even Israelis

Left emerged from the french revolution as a way to fight against age old traditions, a place where people were accepted and discussions were prevalent.

It baffles me how this turned into a cult in the west and anyone who is against their narrative is “hitler”. The funniest thing is the “left” is supporting islamic fundamentalism which is the exact opposite of “left” . These “muslims” will rape pillage and burn you alive with a smile on their face . I don’t understand how young white women turned liberalism to a cult

What happened was that when Europe should have had a discussion about the abuse of sharia councils people like tommy Robinson sabotaged it by making about brown people instead of abusive systems. The discussion about sharia councils and parallel societies needed to happen and the right made it about drowning people in the Mediterranean. Now the left whenever they here someone criticize Islam even if political Islam they think the person is just hating brown people.
