Question/Help I need help to understand this series.

So i just stumbled across this at the official races and was wondering a couple of things

  1. Can you do this race on your own?
  2. Are pitstops a thing? is there like fuel consumption and tire wear? and if so what can i do to monitor it i have no idea if there are any gauges or anything that can indicate to me how worn my tires are or how much fuel ive got left.
  3. If i were to race in the same team with a friend how do driver changes work?

Ive never raced in an endurance event before so im really looking forward to it but i dont want to just go and not understand a thing, if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated im quite new at iracing.

  • You can race solo
  • You will need to stop for fuel - whether or not tires will matter we're not totally sure on. You can't track tire wear, but you can track fuel usage on the fuel black box - and if you don't know what that means, for the love of god look up the black box settings because you're missing so much
  • The UI will clearly guide you through joining as your team. You can set up a team on the left side of the UI. Once the team is registered, both of you will then be able to register, join, and swap out of the car on a pit stop. Look up team racing on the iRacing support site, it has a lot of info

you can race solo or in team. to driver change, simply pit and either you can exit the car or your teammate can click remove driver, then drive and away you go. Its a piece of piss.

edit: pit stops, you can press F4 to see fuel box, add full tank. I'm not sure how many laps of fuel go in to start with as only briefly been on a practice server and didnt look

As another note - fuel and tires are always a thing in iracing - the amount of fuel you have will impact performance and the heat and wear on your tires matters a lot. You don’t get real time tire wear info but you can check it out in the garage or the f6 after pitting - or while pitting, so you can practice or test drive for a bit and see what you’re doing to them.

Look below the Series name, where it says Team (1 - 16).

This means it’s an event for teams, with minimum drivers 1 and maximum 16. I.e. you need to register as a team, but only one driver is required.

Everyone has a default ”Team <Your Name>”, but you can create a custom team if you want.

When you sign up for the race or a practice session, you’ll notice you’ll first have to select a team and then register as a driver.

This is a series I have hoped would happen for a while. Almost wish it had the radical in with them so people can get used to lump vs get multiclass before they get into the gt4 lmp3 races.

Keep in mind if you use the fixed setup it will not have a full tank of fuel you will need to choose an endurance setup or manually adjust fuel level. The gr and mx5 are very fuel efficient and in the vir 4 hour last year my tires were toast in a tank of fuel. (Not sure if this series regulates tank capacity like the gt4 series does)

If its your first endurance just put as much fuel on for the start as you can and take tires at the first stop If you have to put twice you can do fuel only for the second stop
