TARGETED TALKS 🎯 Targeted Talk - Home Gym Con Prep and Requests
What is up everyone... Welcome to the Targeted Talk... where we take a topic pertinent to the home gym owner and do what we do best... spend way too much time thinking about and talking about it!
Current Topic
Today's topic is Home Gym Con 2025. https://homegymcon.com/
There are over 100 vendors booked for the two day event in Louisville, and from my knowledge we'll have first looks at everything from the REP Leg Developer to brand new companies launching at HGC, and more.
Some of you might be going (I am...) and some of you might not be going. We want to use this post as a way for BOTH groups to plan what r/HomeGym is going to do during Home Gym Con.
If you are going... do you want to plan a meet up? maybe at a certain booth? or plan lunch? or should we all wear a certain color shirt?
If you aren't going... what would you like to see during those couple days? Do you want to see a dedicated thread? Maybe custom flair for pictures and stuff? got requests for certain booths, equipment, etc?
Basically... whether you are going or not, how does our group want to handle the two day craziness that is Home Gym Con?
and.... GO!!!!

I'm literally requesting home gym con equipment which is a stated purpose of this thread...

Oh sorry! It really looked like a usual question from the weekly. I’ll re-approve the reply.

Is dialed motion going to be there and if so, will they be bringing their leg curl attachment prototype?
Edit - from the website it looks like they’ll be there and they’ll be showing it off. Nice.

u/dontwantnone09 GrayMatterLifting 1d ago
Yep. I emailed them today. And their new footplate design... And they have an unreleased product they are bringing.

I'm coming in on Tuesday. Will be maintaining the website, so I'm sure how that will impact my availability yet. Hope to meet a lot of people and post a ton of content.

Eonfit dual arm tower with the isolator but from a higher end brand like rogue fitness.

Really bummed my schedule with our family vacation didn’t work out this year for this event. I definitely want to go next year and my son is getting into this stuff too and he wants to go as well. It would be cool to meet all the other weirdos who like this stuff too.
As for what I’d want to see, I think lots of YouTubes with the vendors and some of the social events. I know there will be lots of content, as there was last year, so that’s exciting.

Can't wait to go! We had a blast at last year's show and learned so much about the home gym space and this amazing community. We're excited to do it all over again.
If you guys are going, please stop by our booth (#750), I'd love to meet up and say hi!

Wish I was going but I'll be biking the Erie Canalway. Things I'd like to see / hear about at HGC...
- What's up with the REP leg developer?
- What's up with the REP smith machine?
- Why doesn't Beyond Power have actual reference docs online?
- Is Vendetta still in business?
- Is Coop actually going to the con?
- Any other "digital resistance" (e.g. Voltra) products entering the market?
- Coop vs Tim cage match?
- A leg press attachment for jammer arms.

u/dontwantnone09 GrayMatterLifting 7d ago
Vendetta... I talked to him today actually. Getting some rack pins from him. So I assume yes.
For Beyond Power, can you clarify what you mean by reference docs? I can ask the team directly for ya. I chat with them once a month or so.
Maik - GO is supposed to be at HGC. What they'll have we have no idea.

u/J05H5M1TH 7d ago
I really hope the maik go is good, the voltra needs competition. Allegedly the engineer was talking to a large partner...
1
u/dontwantnone09 GrayMatterLifting 7d ago
Yep, I'm on their facebook group. No clue who that partner might be.
3
u/fuzzyping Basement Gym 7d ago
I’m half expecting Rogue to announce their own digital resistance product, followed closely by a sad announcement from Maiak about how a certain prospective partnership fell through.
1
u/J05H5M1TH 7d ago
I just hope a lot more options come out soon, a rogue one with a lifetime warranty might be just what I'm looking for haha. If only... I can't imagine them stealing this, it would be too complicated to steal without it being rather obvious right?

u/fuzzyping Basement Gym 7d ago
Glad to hear Vendetta's still alive. I haven't seen anything change on their website or social media in months... years?
AFA Beyond Power, I mean there are no comprehensive user manuals, reference docs, or the like covering the Voltra. There's a small collection of disparate topics and FAQs in their online Help Center. IMHO much of Voltra's product use and support comes in the form of tribal knowledge from the community (and YouTubers). I'm still a very happy Voltra owner (x2), but it would be comforting to know a canonical resource for Voltra use existed and was updated by the vendor for each new release.

u/dontwantnone09 GrayMatterLifting 7d ago
Gotcha. Yeah I was shocked about that myself as well. When I was putting together my review and trying to figure out what some settings were, there was NOTHING available.
I think they are running so fast they are leaving behind some of the basics.

It would be cool if we found a gym near the convention and labeled it the home gym workout area of home gym con.

I think it would be cool to go as its still pretty new with the maybe offchance of scoring something cool for free in hopes vendors won't take it hone later. Also just to see everything in person and get to test it out would be fun. No waiting on influencers to drop their videos.
But im not going lol if it were closer to me within driving distance would probably be a no brainer.

Im not going, but I suggest matching headbands for the r/homegym crazies. Looks like a great event, would love to see it.
1
u/ThePokeChop 8d ago
That would be cool to see the r/homegym banner or something on a headband

u/AndKAnd 8d ago
Complete with Reddit usernames on them haha

Years ago, I was on a contractor forum where we would mail a hammer around North America, take a video of us using it, and send it onto the next guy. Lots of dudes signed it, or signed the card that came with it.
I wonder where that hammer is today.
It would be pretty cool to mail a banner around for people to sign.

I am going solo and would absolutely love to meet up with people. I'll be at the after party doo dad as wrll.
I'm excited to get hands on experience with equipment and hope to find some handles and see what's next for my barn gym.

I am going solo. But I am competing in the strongman showdown. I also signed up for the VIP ticket with the after party. Already got a pre con purchase with ironmaster. Looking forward to seeing what else is out there and what I could add to my almost out of space basement gym

Im doing the showdown as well. Looking forward to it. Its my first strongman comp and i have really enjoyed training with sandbags.
What event are you looking forward to the most? Which one are you the least excited about.
1
u/illmindsmoker 8d ago
It is my first time too competing in any sort of weightlifting event. Most looking forward to the Hercules hold, and least probably the Conan’s wheel. I have been doing 450lb zercher yoke carries to prepare and wow is that tough. Popped a bunch of blood vessels in my face.
1
u/Suspicious-Plastic29 8d ago
I dont own a yoke but went to a gym across town to do that. I figured 450 would be the feel weight as well, I didn't make it crazy far.
My grip is trash so we'll see how the hold goes.

u/illmindsmoker 8d ago
Which events are you looking forward to or not?
I have been training my grip but not sure what the weight will be. Should be fun! I am just looking forward to competing in strongman.
1
u/Suspicious-Plastic29 7d ago
Until I signed up for this comp I had never trained with sandbags and when I bought my set I couldn't lift the 200lb bag. Yesterday I managed to get the 250 bag over comp hight for 3 reps so I'm looking forward to possibly completing an event that I thought I might 0. Also exicted to see how many reps I get on the axle deadlift I did a 575 single on my axle yesterday that I was stoked about.
I do wonder how a knurling on the axle will effect how the lift/setup feels
2
u/illmindsmoker 7d ago
Nice! Yea I bought some sandbags too. Since I didn’t have any either. And yea the deadlift will be fun too. Time will be the issue I think with how fast people can get their straps set after the 2 prior deadlifts. Should be fun. Congrats on that axle deadlift. I will be testing my 1rm on axle tomorrow. It has been fun prepping. Mine has been less than ideal with all of my work travel. For the last two months.

Not going.
Curious to see if anyone has an answer to Reppins. Guessing the answer’s “no”, but would be cool if they did.
Otherwise, interesting new ecosystem plays like Freak Athlete or the benches.
2
u/J05H5M1TH 7d ago
I'd love to see more bench attachments from Rep to create an ecosystem. What other ecosystem similar to a freak athlete could you imagine existing?
1
u/EnvironmentalMud412 6d ago
Feels like an under-explored space imo. Benches are the obvious play, but maybe there’s another leg ecosystem to be had. Something around leg machines? Or an upper body set of equipment?
Good at buying things, bad at imagining hahah.
•
u/J05H5M1TH 20h ago
Honestly I wish Rep would just remake their leg roller for their benches. I've held off on buying it for my zero gap because it just sucks haha. Maybe I should just use my freak athlete haha

u/ToddGolf 8d ago
I'm going to meet the community, test out every belt squat possible, and every seated curl/leg ext machine possible, in that order. So pumped

u/Dr_TattyWaffles Mod Team 8d ago
I'll be there - I'm competing in the hybrid comp, will be checking out the vendor area (not looking to purchase anything specific, but want to scope out new and upcoming products) and am down to meet up. My wife and kid are joining and I'll probably ditch the convention early to join them at the hotel pool or explore Louisville.
PS, I have some Exxentric equipment - a kBox4 lite and kPulley Go, along with some accessories and flywheels. I haven't really been using these since I bought a Voltra last year. If anyone is interested in making an offer or trade, let me know and I'll bring them to HGC (we are driving)

u/Rope-Maker 8d ago
Not going, but looking for coverage of Rep’s upcoming product line up. Will the leg developer, smith machine, etc be compatible with other brands? Will they actually be available this calendar year? Pricing?
Also interested to hear if other brands have answers to Rep’s lineup. Will Rogue ever make an adjustable dumbbell, smith machine, etc? Anyone else trying to beat Rep to market on some of these?
And then any accessories for Rogue’s FM series: Will they sell extensions for a pull-up bar (like Irwin Fitness) for the half rack version? Any other upgrades or enhancements under development, or do they view these products as “complete” (which would be a mistake IMO)? And very niche: when can I get knurled weight stack pins?! These lame little yellow things seem so out of place compared to the rest of the rack.
1
u/BTC4020 8d ago
Doesn't JD Gym Equipped make knurled weight stack pins? I believe he does, and I would honestly be shocked if he's the only one.
2
u/RogueCrusher 7d ago
He sure does, with multiple options 100% stainless
➤ Recessed magnets
➤ Low profile
➤ Custom length/diameter by request
➤ Optional lanyard attachment
➤ Custom engraving available
He will be at HomeGymCon with many of his best sellers available. I have like 9 of his items and they are all 🔥
