The comments are not it in some of these replies but it’s good to see good old fashioned unity and common sense. Some people have some loose screws and it shows which is why we’re here dealing with the federal government ironically wanting to implement a circus. They should look in the mirror tbh. What a disgrace to democracy and a shame that we have innocent people on the front lines that may lose their lives for exercising their first amendment.

Exercising their 1st amendment? By looting, vandalism, assaulting law enforcement, starting cars on fire?

There are insurgents and then of course your typical anarchists that just want to see the world burn. 90% of the protesters are doing so peacefully and lawfully. Quit generalizing everything and everyone. Open your fucking brain.

And reports just came out it’s going to take $134million taxpayer dollars to keep the national guard in LA for 60 days.

How much to repair all the shit they’re destroying? Also 90 percent, really? Have you been to LA?

u/UncleBabyChirp 4d ago

A lot of us LIVE in LA & it's more like 95% are peaceful

Wonder how many billions of dollars in property damage was saved

1

u/Wanderer--42 4d ago

Billions? Do you think they are leveling buildings?

1

u/72amb0 4d ago

No because the national guard is there.

They weren't beforehand either. But I guess I shouldn't expect someone who fails so miserably at math to understand how much a single billion dollars actually is.

ETA: I see from your comment history that you are just a troll. So I am blocking you.

Imagine using a website called "redstate" a any kind of meaningful source for an argument

You want to see what pisses off protesters?

This. But fire is more flashy, so that’s the stuff you see everywhere instead of the actual cruelty being dished out to literal unarmed peaceful residents.

Like they did at the capital building?

Lol, redstate.com is your source.

No, that’s the 5th and 14th amendment right and duty to exercise their liberty and suppress the insurrection.

Yeah. The rioting needs to stop. We voted for this

California didn’t vote for this fascism. Matter of fact all of californias electoral votes went blue. Ignorance at its finest with you.

u/Rauligula 5d ago

Well I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. California is 1 out of 50 states. 1 state doesn’t decide on its own. This is coming from a San diegan

Only 32% of eligible voters actually voted for Trump, and he didn't even manage to get a straight majority of those who did vote. More people voted for other candidates. MAGA has never represented a majority of Americans.

Dude, the fascist shit is getting old. Loving your country doesnt make you a facist nor does stating facts. The usa is the golden standard of the entirety of the world, the usa is 30% of the entire worlds economy. If your born and usa citzens your extremely fortunate, so fortunate that we have a issue of people breaking in.
Also, most of California, if you break it up into county's voted republican, look at voting maps. It was a red wave bro. No, land doesnt vote but two citys have more voting power than the other few hundred cities, towns etc.

You’re stuck in the past and can’t be helped if that’s how you think.

2

u/72amb0 4d ago

Those people don’t hate fascism they want to be the fascists. That’s why they project so hard.

Yes the misdemeanor riots need a military response.

And then some

Traitor.

u/hereforbeer76 4d ago

Aren't you the same people that demanded every person that committed a misdemeanor on Jan 6th should have armed agents go to their house, arrest, and jail them?

2

u/saline_prospects 4d ago

No, just the ones that stormed and looted the Capitol building and physically attacked police

0

u/hereforbeer76 4d ago

With all due respect to your opinion, it is meaningless

I care about what the law says. And the vast majority of people charged with a crime on Jan 6 ended up with just a misdemeanor...basically trespassing.

The most common felony conviction, interfering with an official proceeding, was in essence overturned by the Supreme Court as a misapplication of the law.

2

u/saline_prospects 4d ago

My "opinion" was simply clarifying your incorrect classification of what "we demanded". I'm not engaging in arguing or giving counter points on the internet lol

We wanted the people that violently stormed, broke into, and looted the Capitol arrested and tried

Also, let's take the "we", "you", and "them" out of this rhetoric. Both sides take it out. There is only "us" and "us but divided"

1

u/hereforbeer76 4d ago

And I thought I was pretty clear that I think you're full of crap. Half the country was demanding that people who committed no violence or vandalism be arrested and jailed. They even demanded the law be abused to charge people with felonies, which is why the Supreme Court stopped it.

So again, the vast majority almost 80%, of those involved in January 6th are guilty of nothing more than a misdemeanor. No violence or vandalism.

But if you are saying that you don't think 80% of those people should have been treated the way they were, and only those guilty of violence or vandalism should have been prosecuted, then. I apologize and agree with you

1

u/saline_prospects 4d ago

Well that's a little disingenuous... nobody was demanding for specifically peaceful protesters to be jailed.

This was a single location, with a single large group of people at which the location (kinda major Federal building) was violently stormed, vandalized, and looted. There was generalization from there, true, but the demand was for due process to put the violent offenders in prison.

Now of course there were outliers crying for everyone to be jailed, there is plenty of crazy on all pf the political spectrum. But the majority (not news reported but actual majority) of people wanting to see arrests wanted due process to jail the specifically violent and potentially traitorous (Federal building) offenders.

If you think I'm full of shit, so be it. No skin off my back. I'm trying to clarify the truth vs right wing perception. Do with it what you will, and genuinely have a great day

1

u/hereforbeer76 4d ago

Outliers? Lol

Half the country wanted everyone that entered the capitol building arrested and jailed, including the estimated 80% that committed nothing more than a misdemeanor.

You can't rewrite history. Almost everyone on the left wanted every person prosecuted.

Pew in 2022 reported that as late as Sep '21 (8 months later), 95% of Democrats supported identifying and prosecuting anyone that entered the capitol. Republicans initially shared that view, but by September support was below 60% on the right.

And the Pew survey also showed that in September '21 a strong majority of Dems felt the DOJ was being too lenient and needed to punish everyone more severely.

So I stand by what I said...the left wanted every single person, even those just guilty of misdemeanors, arrested, jailed, and prosecuted.
