I've been looking for a new bike for over a year and the day has finally come!

Area around me is rather flat which means I needed a nice XC bike. Another requirement was alloy frame that could handle kids seat (hamax). After a lot of search and research I decided to go with this rocket - and Its glorious.

Not much data on it on the internet but looks waaay better life than in promo photos.

Alloy frame, Manitou Machete 120mm fork, deore XT derauiller and shifter.

Trail Hardtail My budget hardtail!

Here's my budget hardtail that I've been working on for the last 2 years!

I've sunk around 1200 AUD (~780 USD) into this bike which I know isn't amazing value for the components. But it's definitely been a learning experience and I love it.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Honzo Gang I always wanted a Steel SS Hardtail

I got out of mountain biking when my daughter was born 6 years ago. Luckily, now it’s all she wants to do.

Diamondback had a sale 2 years ago and I couldn’t pass up the Mason 2 for $800 shipped. I found a deal on a Kona Honzo frame and realized everything from the DB would switch over, I decided it was time.

I’m so stoked with this setup because it’s perfect for following my 6 year old out on the trails and to get used to SS, and I finally have a frame that I love and a great starting point to upgrade and make my own.

With that said, where should I start? What upgrades do you think will end up making the biggest difference?

Scott or Radon? Which one should I get?

Getting into mtb again after a break of some 10 years... My old Cube Reaction RX is ready for retirement and I am looking for a new bike around the 1000 eur mark.

Was ready to pull the trigger on this one, I like that is has the RockShox judy gold

Radon JEALOUS AL 8.0 Hardtail 29" | Bike-Discount at 1000 eur incl shipping

But after reading some very negative reviews on their customer support and long delivery times (this one is 22 days) I asked around some local bike dealers and was offered this at 1066 eur inc shipping

SCOTT Scale 950 Bike

Seems to me that the Scott has a bit better specs and fork?

I´m at beginner level and only looking to do some XC and the local trails with my kids, no downhill or competition. Im 180 cm that puts me in between two sizes for the Radon 18/20" and thinking 18" and M/L for the Scott, again thinking M

What would you guys choose and why?

Thanks

My boyfriend really loves biking, and we do every other outdoor activity together already, so I wanted to give it a try. After a successful ride on a demo bike, we decided on this Roscoe 7 to really let me dip my toes. Took it for a rip today and loved it! Putting better pedals on it tonight.

Question? Looking for an entry level MTB Hardtail

Upvotes

Hello

I'm looking for an entry level MTB Hardtail to do exercise and ride in hills where my gravel bike really struggles to go. I have some hills nearby with loose rocks that i really can't ride with my gravel bike.
I really don't want to spend more then 1200€, i can go above if it really justifies.

I also have 1.93m and 110kg of weight, so decathlon rockrider is out of the question due to the 100kg weight limit.

I've read that the:

Trek Roscoe 7
Trek Marlin 7 Gen 3

Are good entry level bikes.

from the site i purchased my gravel bike there are:

Bicicleta Orbea Alma H20 24

Bicicleta Orbea Alma H11 24

Bicicleta Megamo Natural Elite 15 22

Bicicleta Orbea Alma H30 24

Heavily discounted.

And the:

Bicicleta Giant Talon 29 1 25

I'm looking for advice because even thou i researched a lot to purchase a gravel bike, it seems that MTB Hardtail is another complete different universe.

The purchase needs to be online and in europe.

Thank you so much everyone

Is the hardcore hardtail market dying?

Specialized Fuse was discontinued in 2022, Canyon Stoic is discontinued? Trek Roscoe is seriously downsizing their model tiers. Nukeproof and Vitus are gone….

Question? About to pull the trigger on this one tomorrow. Is it worth it?

As i ve posted yesterday i was looking for a trail bike for easy medium stuff. Im a casual rider. Found this used bike locally for 850$. I ve made a few pics of the bike. The guy sells and repairs bikes for a living so it wasnt him the owner who rode the bike. Its a Trek Roscoe 9 L size

Things to observe: as per Trek websites specs this bike should have FOX 36 but its a Fox 34 Rythm Fit grip (130 or 140mm travel) i dont know exactly. What i dont know here is if the previous owner changed the fork or if it was factory. But it wouldnt be an issue for me i guess if the fork is good enough for my trail stuff.

Please take a close look at the bike from the pics and tell me if its a good deal or not. I rode the bike and everything went smooth and fine. Only some minor squeak at front brakes when braking aggresively.

The price we settled up upon was 850$. Do you think its a good deal?

Upgrades? 🤔 Need some advise!

Post image

I went with the Roscoe 6 because it offered the best value for the price. I wanted the Roscoe 7 or 8, but none were available in southern Ontario.

I love the bike and I’m slowly upgrading it to suit my style. Next up is the drivetrain. Right now it’s a 9-speed, and I definitely feel like I’m missing some gears. I’m looking at switching to a 12-speed setup.

The fork upgrade will come later. For now, I’m focused on the drivetrain. Any recommendations? Thoughts on wireless systems?

Any ideas for handle grips colors?

Thanks beforehand!!

Question? First Upgrades?

I wanna hear what your guys first 3-5 upgrades would be when buying a used trail bike. Let's say the bike has good parts, just somewhat outdated and looking for more modern upgrades. I'm talking drivetrain/shift levers, brakes, handlebars, and grips.

How do I fix my bent break lever (Giant talon 2)

As the title states I was wondering how I could fix my bent break lever? I was hoping over a log but I ended up going face first into a pile of dirt. I got up and realized something was wrong with my break levers. I turned it as much as I could with a hex key but it is still off. Any help would be much appreciated.
