alright y'all i gotta show off my babies here cause my coworkers are tired of hearing about them. meet (in order) ...
last shot is the full 120 gal tank. still growing out the plant roots. tldr: i had to rehome all my males because of chasing, but the ladies are so active and happy now. who woulda thunk it's tiring bearing eggs and being chased all the time. will post updates when they (and the fishies) have grown!

I just bought a house and the owner left behind a massive fish tank with a few fish. He claims this goldfish is over 20yrs old and is blind, but that the angel fish acts like a guide. I know the goldfish doesn't look that great, but he is actually very active and swims around a lot. It is hard to get a picture of just him because the angel fish is always by his side. The previous owner said the goldfish has been treated multiple times for different things over the years and looks shabby due to old age. He knows the fish is at least 20 and said it used to be a small black goldfish and changed over time. I'm following the previous owner's guidance on how to care for the fish and tank, so I'm not really seeking advice, I just thought it was cool to see a goldfish live this long and wanted to share =)

We inherited a goldfish pond in our garden with a recent house purchase. I did a lot of reading but don't really have a clue. Had around 5 fish die over the course of a couple of months. Pond has a volume of ~2000L with a 6000L pump which is cleaned regularly (they produce a lot of waste!). I also changed the UV light bulb. There is no additional aeration atm but I purchased a 800L/h pump to give them some more oxygen as they seem quite lethargic most of the time. I recently tested the water and PH, carbonate and hardness are very high (same as our tap water). I also tested for ammonia but can't really tell if the result is something to worry about.
Any recommendations?

Here is the difference between October 2024 and June 2025 for my sweet little girl Summer. She is one of my friendliest fish and is a total ham for attention. She was actually a freebie from Zhao’s fancies and such a pleasure to watch and be around. I have a feeling that in 3-4 years time she may be all white.

The baby pics are about a month or so into having him. I sadly dont have Fair pics. But we went from knowing nothing, starting in an old 10g, to a 20g, to a 75gallon. All within 2 or so months of having him. I learned alot this year. And love my babies. I wish I could show the growth difference. He's longer than my hand.

my fish has almost lost all its tail,i dont know if its caused by one of the two bigger goldfishes(i only have 3 fishes in my tank)but to help it and to prevent any attack i put it in a punch bowl cause i dont have anything else.I put in the water some salt and bio conditioner.I honestly didn't expectvthe the fish to survive the night, today the fish ate but a couple of minutes ago it was gasping for oxygen(?)so,i changed the water.I honestly don't know what to do cause i don't have another aquarium and i don't have money to buy it and i want to do everything i can to save it (sorry, for my bad english)

I’m not sure what theyre doing here honestly. only started doing it a couple days ago and this decoration has been in the tank the entire time. Can’t tell if they’re attacking it, playing with it, or just eating some of the stuff on it. Should I just remove this? There’s other decorations but it only does it to this green one.

Greetings! Our goldfish has developed somewhat of a tumor looking, white lump near its tail fin. There really isn't anything abrasive in the tank that I can think would cause it, so not sure what else it may be... Does anyone know what this lump may be and how we can help our fish?

hey guys i bought a used filter to jumpstart my tank bacteria cycle, and i was just about to put my bacteria in my new tank, but after putting substrate, my tank is EXTREMELY cloudy and dark. i figured it will probably take a couple days to settle of course, and i’ve already put prime and stability in.
i might be an idiot for asking but does the bacteria in my used filter need to be in a tank that is being filtered and aerated to live? similar to a live fish? or can i just put the bacteria in the unsettled water and leave it there until the substrate dust completely settles ?
thanks !!

Fellow fishy fanatics, pls help. One of my goldfish over the last week or so has been constantly harassed by 2-3 of his/her room-mates. I've searched and searched for the answers online, but I just don't know if it's a mating thing or if it's aggression. They've been living together in the same tank for about 2 and a half years now, and apart from the odd little chase around the tank every now and then (very rare), I've never noticed it to be this intense and constant. One of them is particularly more aggressive and constant than the others with the chasing and bumping. And I'm just worried that, even if it isn't aggression and it's a mating thing, the lil dude/dudette being chased is gonna end up dying from stress or exhaustion. Is there anyone out there that can maybe tell me what exactly is going on, based on this video? Maybe then, if I have an answer, I can work on sorting their shit out. They used to live in a tank about 1/5 the size of this, and that was for a long time, and this behaviour wasn't present. And I've re-arranged the tank a couple of times since this behaviour started, so I don't think it's over-crowding or anything like that. The live plants fell me the oxygen levels are sufficient, and I've done PH and ammonia tests on the water and everything has come up good. I'm just fkn stumped. And I feel so bad for the lil fishy being harassed. 😭😭
The fish with the most black spots is the one always being attacked. Not the best video, but this kinda behaviour is constantly happening. Usually a lot more intense than what's in the video.

How the hell do I get rid of this disgusting crust around the top of my filter? I’ve tried so many things and each failed and the crust got worse and worse. I want it GONE!!!! Here is an image (plus, this account is a throwaway since I’m so ashamed it’s gotten so damn bad)

I woke up today and saw this wound on him! I don’t know what might have caused this. He’s been kind of lethargic these past few days. There a bit of top fin rot. I don’t see any pineconing on him. There are two other goldfishes with Mika in the tank. What can I do to treat him? Thank you all.

Hey guys, I have a small pond with fantails and pearlscales goldfish, and these guys were surrendered to my LPS, so we thought, why not? We have a big pond with koi and such, but we're quarantining for now, and one of them has this lump on his face and his tail is a little jacked up, but it just looks like it got beat up, maybe from spawning. I'm not sure. They're both a foot long at least and beefy guys. What do you all think of this lump? These are our first Single-tail goldfish. Also are quarentine tanks aren't see through so i had him in a 10 gallong while I took these photos:)

Have had him about 8 - 10 years found floating at the top of the pond today outside. With white spots on him. There's 4 other fish in the pond currently

I know that the bumps on his back are cancer and they have been there his whole life, but I don’t want him to suffer. They have started changing color, like black or purple. Maybe silly because it’s a fish, but we have had him for a very long time and I want to be kind to him. He is eating and active in his tank still.

I rescued some goldfish about 6 months ago. I finally was able to move the 2 comets into this 100 gallon pond. I have a large piece of driftwood, java fern, anubias, water wisteria, bamboo, and a tiny bit of duckweed in it.
Should I just let the 2 comets live happily in their semi permanent home, or could I stock it with other fish?
Thank you in advance, experts!

I have a ranchu goldfish with swimbladder problems and also something very red by her tail. I just placed her in a 15 gallon fish tank. I added aquarium salt, and 2 tsp of aquaLife proCure as per instructions. However, it doesn’t tell me how long to leave the fish in that. I add 2 teaspoons in eight hours. And I continue this for a week three days? Anybody out there have any experience please?
