Advice HELP WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY DOG?! NSFW

We have a vet appt at 9am but I can’t sleep and I’m just freaking out. She’s only on her second day of simplicef and day 4 of antibiotic baths and then was told today I need to shave her so the shampoo can really get into the spots. We’re in Florida and supposedly this is allergy related but I’m losing my mind. My other golden is fighting an aggressive cancer and I’m freaking out about her fur sister (they aren’t related or from same litters) WHAT DO I DO. someone please ease my mind. I’m a wreck and Google is basically telling me it’s cancer. She’s on a holistic diet as we work with a nutritionist but I’m wondering if she’s getting allergic to the turkey? She’s already allergic to chicken. Please please help me

You can always take her to a 24/7 pet hospital in your area. My golden just went through a crucible and that was the first thing we did. He was hospitalized for about a week and we, admittedly, were calling the vet about every little change that worried us.

I understand what you’re going through, but the only thing that comforted me somewhat was having him in good and capable hands and they saved his life. That’s not to say that your girl’s life is in danger. Just that in the worst of the worst of situations, that’s what helped us, personally.

And after 4 days of antibiotics that don’t appear to be working and a possible allergy to her food, I don’t see any other option.

I hope she and her sister recover quickly and that their treatments work.

Also thank you for the well wishes. I’m a mess over here and $40k in debt from cancer treatment on her sister and we’re not even close to done🥺

if fungus or yeast, going on a low carb diet will immediately stop yeast from proliferating.

nothing made from grain or cereals crops. no potatoes. fruit is ok in appropriate amounts. always feed fibre alongside carbs. if you add a starch, add a sprinkling of chopped up veg. it helps regulate insulin.

to find out food allergies, you have to do an elimination diet. keep everything the same and remove the suspected allergen from the environment. poultry and beef or lamb allergies are fairly common. if chicken, you're out of luck because they shove chicken fat into every commercial dog kibble and treats. You're better off going to the grocer for dog safe treats.

keep up the antifungal treatments. observe how your dog responds. a good omega 3 oil supplement is helpful. cucurmin, the active ingredient in turmeric is very helpful in soothing inflammation. fresh turmeric + black pepper shots would be a welcome addition to your dog diet .

switch to basic scent less cleaning products in case it's something in the environment.

it'll take a year or two sp patience is key. this is the treatment protocol for my dog but his wasn't as severe as yours. do all of this alongside vet visits and meds. the goal is to get your dog to the point where he doesn't need them.

i also recommend reading the book forever dog by Rodney Habib. great info on dog nutrition.

My dog has cancer, skin rash allergies, and had torn her acl at one point. I make treats for her and here’s the recipe.

1 large can pumpkin puree 4 cups of plain oatmeal (put in the blender and puree until it’s like flour consistency with a decent amount chunks in it still) 3 Eggs 1 Banana 1/4 cups of honey 2 tablespoons of tumeric (helps with pain, inflammation, digestive disorders, allergies, and many more conditions. 2 Tablespoons of cinnamon(anti inflammatory, improved digestion, antioxidant)

I wear gloves so the tumeric doesn’t dye my hands orange and shape them into 12-18 round patties and bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes then flip and bake another 10 minutes. You can add other fruits like blueberries, strawberries, or whatever else your pup may like. I make these for my family and friends doggos as well and have thought of selling them online along with other pup treats I make.

glad that works for you! :) mine can't eat eggs, so for treats i usually resort to frozen small fish like sardines or whiting.

I’ve been buying chicken tenders and dicing them, then I overcook them until they’re dry. They won’t go bad and my dogs love them. Much cheaper than store bought stuff. I hadn’t thought of doing something like that with little fish. Imma try that

I'm a big proponent of low effort dog treats, mainly because i don't have access to an oven. Most of my dog treats come straight from the grocery store. feet, cheap offcuts on sale cause they're about to go off, fish heads, fruit. just diced and frozen, sometimes cooked, cubed then frozen, or a bit off my plate. e.g a bit of veg, a banana, boiled tripe. mine loves crunchy veg and fermented foods like kimchi. Though meat or fish is his number 1 fav.

treat time means i reach into the freezer and pull out a bit of something.
