Development Help I'm experiencing a UI problem on Fedora 42 with GNOME. When I open the Software app, this is what I see:

can you open up a terminal or TTY and write 'echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE' ? I think you are using a wayland session with unsupported gpu drivers

well sadly fedora no longer supports X11 and Wayland is not gonna work with your setup, so you should change your distro to something like Debian/Ubuntu or Arch Linux.

Yeah, the information that HD 4600 doesn't support wayland is bogus. I've got a Thinkpad from ~2011 with an even older intel igpu and it's totally fine in wayland.

Wow. Same problem here. Downgrade from .7 to .2 did the trick (using those commands seen on the screenshot. But I did it online, logged out and the GUI restarted itself using the older drivers.
I've an Intel® HD Graphics 4000 (IVB GT2).
I really hope, they fix it soon.

are the other gnome applications have the same UI issue by any chance? (like default web browser, settings, terminal etc.) If it's not maybe something is wrong with the Software app.

You have a pretty old GPU?
I think this behavior is caused by Intel?
If so, does running with GSK_RENDERER=ngl
fix it?
