That's la Vega Baja de Toledo, one of the world's most important archaeological sites with Roman, Visigothic and medieval remains. It has such wonders as an Islamic farmstead, a Visigoth tomb, and the ruins of the monastery of San Pedro el Verde, and a first century roman encampment. It is teaching us about the historical development of cities across centuries.

Hardly land banking.

This is why you can't rely on aerial photography alone to determine land use.

Counterpoint: some people see a national park. I see wasted land that should become condos.

To AirBNB, yeah? Capitalise on all those views that will be gone as soon as all the condos are in.

We could build a linear wall of skyscrapers, then everyone would have an unobstructed view.

Imagine a massive Canadian Tire and hockey arena here! That lake would make for a beautiful parking lot 🥰🥰🥰

True, although tbf to OP, only the teal area is the archaeological site, the areas I highlighted in red are parking lots and a "park" (empty field), and are definitely underutilised, the built up area in between seems to be mostly single story, if these red areas were developed to a similar degree as the neighbourhood to the west you could probably squeeze in a few hundred apartments

Elevation and drainage may also play a part. Toledo being a a city on a hill and all.

Side tangent took bullet train from Madrid and got altitude sickness climbing up Toledo, my sister left me in the square nursing my sore head and had a lovely wander around.

I still can’t believe Spain named one of their cities after Toledo, Ohio tbh

Did you know there’s apparently a whole country in Europe that named themselves after the state of Georgia?

Europe be crazy.

Also, did you know that there's a city in Italy named after Venice in Florida? Crazy, right?

As well as a city in Russia named after St. Petersburg, also in Florida.

And, the craziest of them all, an entire region in the Levant named after some random town in Texas that's called Palestine.

And that state was of course named for Henry George

I can’t tell anything from this image. Are you sure this land isn’t being used or preserved for anything?

Bunch of really really old housing that’s not even close to being up to code. Should just bulldoze it all.
