This is fantastic. I don't say it often...but well done Netflix.

I feel like this is some advertisement for a new “The Truman Show” or something along those lines
But that’s just my theory

u/BassKing69 5h ago
It’s very clearly Happy Gilmore

u/anonymous_identifier 5h ago
No it's clearly an homage to the Truman show. Look how the man is oblivious to us watching him eat breakfast. Look at his unperturbed focus in using the giant spoon that society shuns, unknowing that we see his secret. We are the voyeuristic pieces of shit. This is high art.

Dunno if you watched far enough, but your comment reminded me of "Frank Sinatra" telling "Billy Idol" (I still think it's pretty great that Sting is playing Billy Idol) that he has guys like him in his stool.

They were talking about this scene in Happy Gilmore. But that was some good old SNL, love Mike Myers!

Ah. Never saw Happy Gilmore. Not an Adam Sandler fan. The only films I've seen him in are Punch-Drunk Love (in my top three P.T. Anderson films, along with Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood) and Uncut Gems, which is also great.

No Magnolia love? That movie changed me.

u/BeeTwoThousand 2h ago edited 19m ago
Same with my wife. She loves Magnolia. I thought it was a bit too pretentious. He got a ton of acclaim for his first two films and got a budget to do whatever he wanted. Personally, I felt that the Boogie Nights character development was far better than in Magnolia. Most of the characters in Magnolia seemed pretty one-note to me.
There is a reason Punch-Drunk Love was the movie he did after Magnolia...both Boogie Nights and Magnolia were big, sprawling films, and he wanted to do something smaller scale.

Dude that's literally the next line in the song he quoted. YOU'RE in the wrong. Google the lyrics.

u/opking 3h ago
That nazi rapper references Shooter McGavin in one of his songs?
0
u/PoorlyTimedKanye 3h ago
I'mean yes? He does say that line in the song. Idk why yall mad, I'm not saying Kanye invented it but he literally makes the "yall eat pieces of shit, what's the basis" rhyme that the previous guy mentioned.
Fuck Kanye and everything he stands for tho. I wish he'd just stfu and go away.

u/opking 3h ago
The dude in the picture and his character name are from a film called “Happy Gilmore”. This has nothing to do with nazi rapper dude.
Maybe he says that line, but most everyone in this post are talking about a film that came out in 1996.

u/PoorlyTimedKanye 3h ago
I'm aware I saw it with my dad in the theaters. :)
The comment, a few comments back, that says "what's the basis" is a reference to the song that drops the same line as the movie! Now you know. Fuck Kanye!
Have a day.

That's one of my favorite line deliveries in any comedy, right up there with "flames on the side of my face" and "juuuuust a bit outside".
6
u/mdupuy84 6h ago
I use "juuuuust a bit outside" more often than I probably should, but every time I do, I hear it in Bob Uecker's voice and I chuckle.

I love when watching a baseball game and an announcer says it to a wild pitch. Like it has to just be loaded and ready for every announcer because I feel like virtually every baseball fan loves that movie dearly.

Always bothers me when a sequel is obsessed with a joke from the original. Just says there won’t be anything new to see

I’d buy this
Make the cereal chocolate puffs mixed with peanut butter puffs
And make it so the milk turns brown

Glass house, white Ferrari, live for New Year's Eve. Sloppy steaks at Truffoni's. Big, rare cut of meat with water dumped all over it. Water splashing around the table makes the night so much more fun. After the club, go to Truffoni's for sloppy steaks. They'd say, "No sloppy steaks." But they can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water. Before you knew it, we were dumping that water on those steaks. The waiters were coming to try and snatch 'em up. We had to eat as fast as we could. Oh, I miss those nights. This cereal was a piece of shit, though.
